Very Good – …ambient, dancy, beautiful, quirky, right-on and hilarious all at the same time…
NME (02/13/1993)
…This crew of two makes languid audio collages by mixing ambient house music and New Age…Like most hybrids, this one shouldn’t make sense–but in this case, it does… – Rating: B

5.0 out of 5 stars You’ll need to defrost yourself,
I remember buying this for a friend when it was originally released and was glad to be able to buy it for myself. A great deal of ‘ambient’ albums can be deadly-dull and lacking in any real melody or rhythm, this is certainly not true in the case of this album. The synthesisers layer beautiful sections of haunting music over dubbed out beats. The whole tape has an “”outer-space feel”” and sounds amazing on a good sound system. It is very, very well produced. The album flows from 1 track or 1 mix of a track effortlessly. State of Independence with guest vocals by Chrissie Hynde is spine tinglingly emotive. As you can see I love this album. If you want to relax and float away then buy this and chill yourself out totally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just about State of Independence (Pts I, II & III),
Just heard these three tracks on another compilation (unreleased, online only, by DJ Drew), and they are an absolute knockout – spine-chilling, especially for those of us that remember dancing to Donna original. These three tracks are successive remixes of a track called Spiritual High (State of Independence) by Chrissie Hynde (don’t know which album); the final track has Martin Luther King “”I have a Dream”” speech overlaid. Stunning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much much more music like this needed,
This is well thought out music. The album flows effortlessly from one track to the next without being the same. It caters to all tastes, and is one of the best albums I’ve heard for a very long time. This is an album rather than an assortment of songs. Psychodelecetesen ( sod the spelling ) is also good, but not as smoothly put together. Well worth buying though as it one of those musical treasures I whip out when I’ve got friends who are in need of serious musical titillation”
