Killing Spree is playing death metal with lots of atmosphere. Brutal vocals, keyboards and heavy riffing. Keyboards are use for the atmospheric elements, but they don’t annoy. The tempo of the songs is mid to up tempo with melody and breaks. The album sounds accessible and catchy and will attract a lot of people.

Another band from Germany and this one is a nice surprise.
The music on Choose And Decide is Death Metal without any blastbeats or gore related lyrics. There are other ways of dying than going through a meat grinder and KILLING SPREE are a proof of that. Sometimes it even reminds of SIX FEET UNDER, but fear not, it’s just small parts that fit with the rest of the music. KILLING SPREE makes music that is varied enough to kill a hardcore SIX FEET UNDER fan.

What really makes this record pleasing for my ears are the vocals. They are varied enough too never sound boring and on top of that they sound really meaty. People who’ve read some of my reviews, may have noticed that I dislike the new trend where it sounds like they are singing through water. KILLING SPREE are a cure against it. This is how Death vocals should be performed, bottoms up to Andre Voigt for keeping it real.

There are no songs on Choose And Decide that I wish to skip when I listen to it. Every song is above average and some are really good. The opening track, “”Burning East””, is one of my favourite tracks. Here some of the SIX FEET UNDER sounding parts are present. But unlike the aforementioned band, these guys have the brains to vary. They throw in some atmospheric parts, which fits very good. I’m sure Chris Barnes would have to smoke a whole field of Marijuana to come up with a song like “”Burning East””.

Another song I would like to talk a bit about is “”Keep The War””. It is driven forth by a thick sounding guitar and in the background there are some well placed keys. The chorus on this song reminds me of BLOODTHORN, it deserves to be played at maximum volume. Don’t forget to give “”Star Soldier”” a good listen while your at it.

Choose And Decide is a CD that won’t please the speed junkies among us. But those who like their Death Metal more atmospheric and slow may find what they are looking for here. Enough for now, I have some up catching to do.”
