The late Ian Fleming created a truly legendary character when he invented James Bond for a uniquely fascinating and thrilling series of novels. Agent 007 licensed to kill the enemies of Britain in the course of his Secret Service duties if they didn’t kill him first.

The Bond books represent the essence of egotist reading as millions of people have discovered to their delight in most parts of the world, reading about 007s exciting adventures in many languages of the world. Bond is tough, deadly resourceful, and at the peak of physical fitness and mental alertness, apart from the times when he takes a battering or brainwashing from those dastardly SMERSH agents and other assorted villains who occasionally gain a temporary upper hand. He is also handsome, debonair, and devastating with the beautiful ladies who cross his path or bedroom threshold for varying reasons; a wit, raconteur, gourmet, and a connoisseur of good things in glasses and bottles like Chivas Regal and cocktails that are shaken but not stirred.

It was inevitable that such a potent paragon would translate into a box-office bonanza in cinematic terms. Millions have gasped, groaned, grinned, winced and cheered all round the world as they watched Bonds exploits skilfully transferred from Flemings powerful pages into breath-taking, dynamic action on the screen. Sean Connery set a sparkling pace as 007, with one contribution in the role from George Lazenby (On Her Majestys Secret Service), and now Roger Moore is defying death and disaster and leaving no stone or beautiful lady unturned as he valiantly combats the most vicious villains and heinous holocausts directed against him and the well-being of Great Britain.

Not least in the impressive success story of James Bond in the film world has been the music written to depict him and underline he desperate drama and spine-tingling suspense of his adventures. Monty Norman wrote The James Bond Theme, encapsulating his courage and dashing daring in one memorable tune; Burt Bacharach and Hal David caught his character for the Casino Royale episode in his perilous life; Lionel Bart provided the musical colour for From Russia With Love, and John Barry has conjured forth a succession of vivid and unforgettable themes and music for the other Bond pictures with lyrics written by Don Black, Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Geoff Love and his Orchestra capture all the moody menace and compelling violence of 007’s life with these Big Bond Movie Themes.

————————————————–

loved this album… Geoff Love and His Orchestra were quite popular back in the 70s, and they made a fair fist of covering all the title tracks. (At least there were no tacky covers of the vocals… it was purely instrumental.)
As a kid I used to pore over the splendid album cover while listening to the record… I loved the way in which the cover painting merged the worlds of Moores Bond with Connerys Bond and Lazenbys Bond as if they all belonged together in a single splendid movie poster! (Plus, Roger never looked better than in that painted pose which featured on the posters for both LLD and TMWTGG – and which was brilliantly re-hashed as the centrepiece for this Geoff Love album cover.)
