Description

After surprising the world with their much acclaimed debut album, Evidence return with a brilliant follow, shaped in an attractive piece of hard rock. When power metal or nu metal are the trend, Evidence swims against the tide, keeping their hard rock roots well grounded, with 11 tracks that will make you travel through time back to the 80s, still with some 90s stuff in between. It is complicated to point out the highlights on this record since it’s very enjoyable from the first to the last second! If you are a hard rock follower then the 80s music is still much alive in this album, if not listen to it and you’ll get the idea how good music should sound! Note: Rui Sabino’s Vocals, is a mix between Geoff Tate and Andy B. Franck, melodic when needed but sheer raw power all the time. This guy could very well become one of the greatest vocalist in Traditional Heavy Metal for the new millennium.

Rock N’ Metal Well, Well, Well,What a surprise. Evidence’s second release strays away from the melodic power metal heard of the debut album into a more aggressive, traditional Heavy Metal sound, and with a overall “Rock until you die” feeling that would leave many 20-year-old band’s ashamed. “Spiral” is rockish, very catchy, and above all very solid. No balads here ( always a wise choice in a Metal album, IMO), and the production is very good (courtesy of Mr. Tommy Newton of Helloween fame),very raw, that helps this album with a genuine sound and feeling . You can almost picture these guys going into the studio and Newton saying “alright guys the tapes are rolling. Just do your thing and rock.” while he gets out for a quick smoke. It also helped the band to have a very unique sound. This album can be divided into two parts. The first is from “In the line of fire” to “Laughing at you”. All songs are proficiently performed, good riffs, competent vocals, solid rhythmic section, and for a metal act, not abusing from the double bass. Actually the number of times double bass is used in the album can be counted by the fingers in one hand. The only downfall is that the first half of the album kind of sounds all the same (Although “in the line of fire” and “Desperation” do stand out, thanks to their good chorus). Competent musicianship is not , however, a certain sign of success. A band needs to have a special edge to really stand above the mediocrity. And that special extra is Rui Sabino’s Vocals, a mix between Geoff Tate and Andy B. Franck, melodic when needed but sheer raw power all the time. This guy could very well become one of the greatest vocalist in Traditional Heavy Metal for the new millennium. The second half of the album start’s in track 7. “If i Can’t stop the world” has some really inspired guitar work (The guitar harmony in the bridge section is extremely good) and a nice touch in the fade out.”Breathe” shift’s the album tone into a more aggressive tone, the chorus ‘Breathe in , Breathe out’ highlighted by the superb guitar riff underneath it. Next is the album’s best song, “Spiral”. This song as it all. Superb riff’s, great lyrics, very good solo and it’s catchier than STD at a Thailandese brothel. If all the songs in this release where as good as this one, this would be a record for the ages. “Pull you Out” and “Prison Walls” finish the album strongly, both being catchy , melodic and really heavy, specially “Prison Walls” containing the albums’ strongest guitar solo. It’s really amazing that this band chose to stear away from the more profitable waters of melodic power metal into the now almost deserted sea of traditional heavy metal. The talent and attitude is certainly there. Rock on!”
