After a lengthy tour in support of the breakthrough SHOUT AT THE DEVIL, Motley Crue almost called it quits. In December of 1984, singer Vince Neil was involved in a D.W.I. car crash that killed his friend Razzle (drummer for the promising Hanoi Rocks) and injured two passengers. The other Crue members drowned their sorrows in drink and drugs but somehow managed to write and record 1985 highly anticipated third album, THEATRE OF PAIN. Whereas SHOUT was a heavy metal album, THEATRE returned to the Glam stylings of the debut TOO FAST FOR LOVE but was musically more experimental and proved another platinum-plus smash, spawning two immensely popular MTV videos-a rollicking cover of The Brownsville Station “Smoking in the Boys Room” and the tender, piano-based ballad “Home Sweet Home”. THEATRE solidified Motley Crue standing alone of the world top hard glam metal bands. Tracks such as “City Boy Blues”, “Louder Than Hell”, and “Raise Your Hands to Rock” are up to par with earlier Crue anthems.

Yet another masterpiece by the Icons of hard rock! Mick Mars shows his versatility guitar wise on this effort with Vince,Nikki, and Tommy being as solid musically as ever. You have the greatest Crue ballad of all time in Home Sweet Home along with the rockin Tonight (We Need A Lover) and Keep Your Eye On The Money. The best though which makes this the complete package is Louder Than Hell that is one of the best rock songs you’ll ever have the pleasure of banging your head too. Then you have a sweet power ballad of how the world is on the edge of insanity with Save Our Souls. One more that stands out is Fight For Your Rights which is an awesome rock song for standing tall to fight for your freedom. All around a solid effort from the Crue that will rock you to the bone! Motley Crue Rules!!

By far the band most slickly produced work. A few great songs here and there (such as the hit power ballad “”Home Sweet Home””), and by far the band best-selling album at the time of its release. Even though this was Crue’s most pop album it has great tunes and great songs

Their best work
With “”Theatre of Pain”” Motley Crue single-handedly created the hair-metal craze, and maybe that why some people hate this album. But there far more to this than just the look. Truthfully, this album is their best work. It Heavy Metal, it Pop, it Rock and it Blues. It deep musically and lyrically. One of my favorites, and it belongs up there with “”Number of the Beast,”” “”Screaming for Vengeance,”” “”Love at First Sting”” and “”Blizzard of Ozz.””

MOTLEY CRUE ROCKS!!!
This is one of Motley Crue best albums. Awesome guitar riffs, awesome singing, and really awesome drumming. This album is a must-own for any Motley Crue or just a rock and roll fan. “”Smokin In The Boys Room”” is the best song on the album, but don’t get me wrong, every other song rocks too!
