What a belter of a track! It was just too ahead of its’ time. Is MO saying he feels the USA are guilty? In that during this official video on each occassion that the words “I’M GUILTY” are heard the graphics are of the American icons (IDOLS?) the statue of Liberty & then the craven images of its past leaders faced in rock on Mount Rushmore, & if this indeed what his message to us is then one must wonder what he feels the USA was guilty of back in the day that this was created in 1979.

“Guilty” is a single by musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1979. It reached number 22 in the UK Singles Chart. It is notable for being Oldfields’ first obvious attempt to capitalise on a current musical trend, in this case disco/dance music. The UK 12″ edition was originally issued on pale blue vinyl.

The music video for “Guilty” is in a colourful cartoon style. A promo video for “Guilty 2013” was released by earMusic, which features a shortened version of the “Guilty Electrofunk Mix” from the Oldfield/York remix album Tubular Beats. In 2011 Moist Creations had released a screenshot from this titled “Guilty 2011”.

Recording:
When Oldfield was in New York recording Platinum and “Guilty” he recorded a disco arrangement of his first album, Tubular Bells.
A version of Frees “All Right Now” was also recorded during these sessions.
