Michael Monroe: Not faking it
The ex-Hanoi Rocks singer best album. Contains mega classic songs like Dead, Jail or Rock n’ Roll.

Not Fakin’ It is the second solo album by Michael Monroe released in 1989. Monroe first solo album, Nights Are So Long, had attracted big record label, and in 1988 Monroe signed to Mercury Records. Not Fakin’ It was Monroe first solo album to be distributed worldwide. Differences between Monroe and the record company about the album marketing, led to the publisher not focusing on the promotion of the album. But beside this, the music video for the song “”Dead, Jail or Rock ‘N’ Roll”” gained much airplay on MTV for featuring Monroe good friend and fan, Axl Rose the Guns N’ Roses singer. A music video was also made for the song “”Man With No Eyes””

Axl With Mike Monroe, on Dead, Jail Or Rock N’ Roll

Guns N’ Roses made no secret of the debt they owed to Finnish glam-punks Hanoi Rocks: “If Hanoi Rocks had reached the success they should have,” Axl Rose once said, “no-one would ever have heard of Guns N’ Roses.” In addition to encouraging Geffen (via their UZI Suicide imprint) to re-issue the Finns’ out-of-print albums, Axl offered payback of sorts with his cameo in the video for frontman Mike Monroe’s 1989 single Dead, Jail Or Rock N’ Roll, helping push Monroe’s second solo album, Not Fakin’ It, into the Billboard 2000, even though he didn’t actually sing on the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just good old fashioned great entertainment
Totally blown away by the energy and the good old fashioned rock tinged with a bit of glam. It is so good, I have had it on about 5 times already today. I don’t think there is a track I don’t like but for me Dead, Jail or Rock and Roll is my favourite. If you want an album to blow away the cobwebs and stamp your feet to then this is just the job. So pleased I switched Sky Arts on that day

5.0 out of 5 stars After Hanoi and Still Fantastic
I first brought this when I was a student, it was fantastic then, it’ still just as good now, just about to order another copy, it worth every penny every re-listen just quite simply one of the best albums I ever owned. It well produced the lyrics are often a bit more than one would expect and there is an innate sense of humour just brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mike Monroe keeps the faith,
A good, straight forward take on all the bits of trash/glam rock n roll that personified the prior band he was in ! And I loved so very much.
Enjoy Enuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Superstar (That Never Was)
This is a stormer. There the fast tracks ‘Dead…’, he No Angel’ (a cover of The Heavy Metal Kids/Gary Holton {Wayne out of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet} penned song), ‘Not Fakin’ It’, hakedown’, ‘Thrill Me’ & the heartfelt ‘All Night With The Lights On’ – no it not about that(!) and one of the songs that would have been a chart hit if destiny had been kinder to the former Hanoi kid ‘Man With No Eyes’. A truly gutsy delivery Mr. Monroe.
Nights Are So Long
Two Steps From The Move

one of the coolest videos from 1989 ever, I think Michael Monroe’s solo stuff was better than Hanoi Rocks!
