Promo video for Basket Case from the 1994 album Comforter.
The Irish equivalent to Nirvana & Kurt Cobain. Video shot in the Yorkshire Dales at Goredale Scar near Malham. The camera is in a remote controlled helicopter.
A lot of dreamy, spacey songs to compliment the rougher edged stuff. Waaaaay better than Nirvana but you know how history is about that kind of stuff. Very underrated, but the world was more interested in nirvana! Nirvana had nothing on this band. Compulsion are legends. Way? better than nirvana, had much more melody. Compulsion were a class act studio and live, unlike Kurt the junkies boys. (Dave Grohl excepted). When? are these lads gonna get the credit they deserve?
highly recommend this classic ’90s post-punk anthem whose lyrics should have been scrawled in White-Out on every high schooler’s Trapper Keeper, were this a perfect world. It was apparently a significantly bigger hit in the band’s native UK, where it was titled “Basketcase.” (No relation to the Green Day hit of the same name & same year.) It seems quite influenced by The Chameleons’ “In Shreds” (my pick for the best post-punk song ever) and Nirvana’s “Dive.”
Basketcase Lyrics
And she gave it to the world
World didn’t want to take
The baby from the girl
Float on
Waterway
Your time
Never changed
Your life
‘Round again
You fly
Far awayTime will never destroy your heart
Time will never destroy your heart
So, in the reeds beside
The river bed she lay
Give her to the river
Let the water show the way
Float on
Waterway
Your time
Never changed
Your life
‘Round again
You fly
Far away
Time will never destroy your heart
Time can never destroy your heart
Float on
Waterway
Your time
Never changed
Your life
‘Round again
You fly
Far away
Time can never destroy your heart
Time will never destroy your heart
Time can never destroy your heart
Time will never destroy your heart
