This is a highly expressive as well as impressive album. Each of the 9 tracks (note that the 9th track is “”hidden””: it is not mentioned in the booklet, and starts with three and a half minute of silence) creates an atmosphere of its own, but despite this huge diversity they give rise to a coherent album. The music is deeply cool, involving a plethora of instruments old and new, and well-trained voices. The lyrics (mostly in german) tend to be poetical and – in most songs – haunting. Listening to the songs evokes images of ancient rites in long forgotten temples and sacred groves. I have considered giving this album only 4 stars because there are far too many discrepancies between the lyrics in the booklet and those actually sung. This, however, does nothing to substract from the high quality of the music itself, and since many albums do not even come with lyrics at all, I considered it unfair to withhold that 5th star. A beautiful and evocative album, which can be summarised in one word: brilliant. Highly recommended!”
