Vinyl is in MINT condition!

Once Bitten is the third full-length studio album released by the American hard rock band Great White. It was released in 1987 and became a commercial success, selling more than a million copies and being certified Platinum a few years later, after the band next album …Twice Shy had become a success. “”Rock Me”” became a hit single and is one of Great White best known songs. In the UK, the track listing was strangely altered, losing four new tracks and replacing them with songs from 1986 album Shot in the Dark and with a live version of “”What Do You Do””. The album opening track, “”Lady Red Light””, was featured on the NBC show Parks & Recreation in the episode “”Tom Divorce””.

“”Rock Me”” is a single released by the American band Great White in 1987. It was a breakout hit for the band, and still receives significant airplay on classic rock radio. The original version clocked in at over 7 minutes, with the radio and video versions being trimmed down to between 3 and 5 minutes. Many of the lyrics to the edited versions are different from the original, though the music track remains the same.

gem choice here is “Rock Me,” which was the breakout track for Great White

5.0 out of 5 stars Great White = Gods,
The best Great White mass marketed album. A “”Tour de Force””, start to finish.
From the unbelievable opening M.K. guitar riff to the closing: this is an inspired and unforgettable work.
Great White stands on their own material high above any record company expectations.
Mr. Russell, his voice, talent, and “”desires””, have outlasted them all. Comparisons do not apply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Once Bitten, twice addicted!!
When I first heard “”Rock Me”” back in 1987, I knew that Great White stood above the rest. I went out and bought “”Once Bitten”” and after hearing it, I promptly began buying every bit of GW music I could find. This album sets the standard for blues based rock. If you don’t own this disc, drop what you are doing and buy it now!! Mark Kendall guitar work is a perfect mix of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and his own original style. And what can you say about Jack Russell voice? He is the man! A great album from a great band!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Album is a true rock and roll gem!,
I still never get tired of it.
“”Rock Me”” is both a musically technical gem in addition to
being a great rock/blues song. “”Save Your Love”” is my favorite
all-time rock ballad especially since it captures Jack
Russell unbelievable vocal range.
“”Mistreater”” is an in-your-face grinder with a good emphasis
on the bass. “”On the Edge”” just makes me want to go bungee
jumping for the 50th time — gets the adrenaline going.
“”Lady Red Light””, “”All Over Now””, and “”Never Change Heart””
capture what blue collar straight rock and roll is all about
without the lipstick and glam.
“”Fast Road”” is a fast rock jam that new rock bands
should learn and practice with just because it is so
classically rock.
There is NO filler material on this album. Each song is
explosive yet unique and will be appreciated by all who
love good old fashioned rock and roll!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great LP
I never listened to Great White before but my dad said he liked them so I knew if he did then I knew I would too, and I was right. This is totally awesome and my favorite song on here might just be ‘Lady Red Light’. GO OUT AND GET THIS LP!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is NEVER out of rotation in my collection,
This album is the quintessential classic … the songs on this disc have withstood the test of time. Can you believe it been 20 years since this album release? I still get chills at the opening notes of “”Lady Red Light”” … and this album doesn’t let up until i’m left wanting more after “”Save your Love”” is over.

Many albums from this era of Rock have not stood the test of time very well, and a listen to many songs from the 80 make me cringe … but this album is a shining example of music done RIGHT.

I WISH I could give 6 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, for what it is and when it was released, uld. They had too much blues influence in their songs, and too much genuine melody and skilful playing. No, they are no virtuosos, but they were a great hard rock band. And listening to this disc now, I am amazed at how well the songs stand up. Put aside the production, guitar tone, overextended solos, and general “”80s”” vibe, and you’ll see the songs are solid. If they came out today, with the exact same songs, they’d be a hit.It seems there always a place for catchy blues rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best from a VERY underrated band,
Great White has always been a favorite band of mine, and they absolutely shine on this album–which is the one that first got me interested in this band. “”Rock Me”” is an epic, rocking anthem that got plenty of rock radio airplay in its day. “”Save Your Love”” is to this day one of the classier rock ballads I have ever heard, and it should have been a huge pop chart hit in addition to its rock radio airplay. “”Lady Red Light””, “”Mistreater””, and “”Never Change Heart”” are among the other highlights on this effort. With the exception of “”Sail Away””, every album I have heard from this band has been nothing short of excellent (including the surprising 1999 release “”You Can’t Get There From Here.””) This one, however just may be their most solid and rocking effort from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars i was biting to have this,
great music, it touched my heart in many ways, made me think.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!,
Wonderful album, probably my favorite album recorded from Great White. Great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great White finds success melding blues, rock, metal, and 80 glam
Los Angeles based rockers Great White, found what would be their signature sound on Once Bitten (1987), their third studio recording on Capitol Records. “”Rock Me””, still probably their most well-known song, became a hit. As the band videos received airplay on MTV, it helped to introduce Great White to the masses, as the LA metal scene was then all the rage. Unlike contemporaries like Motley Crue, Ratt, and Quiet Riot, while hard edged, Great White sound was more influenced by the blues, and their albums regularly included a number of bluesy melodic ballads.

Michael Lardie had played with the band on their previous album Shot In the Dark (1986), and Great White officially became a quintet, when the versatile Lardie formally joined vocalist Jack Russell, guitarist Mark Kendall, bass player Lorne Black, and drummer Audie Desbrow, for the recording of Once Bitten.

Similar to most of their studio recordings that would follow, Once Bitten is a mix of rockers, and bluesy rock ballads, with “”Rock Me”” kind of a hybrid that spans both genres. Mark Kendall really comes into his own on this album, combining fiery emotion, bluesy phrasing, incendiary leads, ballsy swagger, and some occasional flash. It all about feeling for Kendall, as he provides what works best for the song, rather than fuelling his ego, and almost always leaves you wanting more.

The album gets off to a flying start with a chugging and aggressive tribute to a lady of the night, “”Lady Red Light””. “”All Over Now”” is a killer tune, absolutely one of the band best compositions ever. “”Gonna Getcha”” is a fun, feel good tune with a basic structure, where Kendall solo sneaks out from underneath the beat, dishing up some dirty cool blues. Similarly, “”Fast Road”” has a deceptively simple structure that quite effective, with a really inventive solo break. With ample opportunities to showcase the guitar, “”On The Edge”” is the kind of song that seems ideal in the live setting.

While Jack Russell can belt out a tune with the best of them, his vocal phasing ability can be most appreciated on the slower bluesy songs, like “”Rock Me””, and the poignant and emotion saturated ballad, “”Save Your Love””. Russell may not have the greatest range, but like Mark Kendall, he brings great emotion and feeling to what he does. “”Never Change Heart”” is another showcase for Russell dynamic delivery.

Τραγούδια που ξεχώρισαν και τους χάρισαν την επιτυχία στους καιρούς που το hair metal γνώριζε άνθιση ήταν τα “Rock Me”, “Save Your Love” και το πιο αργό “Face the day”.
