Description

Very good vocalist and a band that has lots of spirit. Some songs remind me of Mindfunk’s first album in a way. They are not afraid to keep it as original and fresh as possible and this is why I like this band. The have quite an own identity and style

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard hitting, thought provoking & toungue in cheek,
This album is intense- intellectually and sonicly. It gets you pumped up so much it makes you want to jump out of your skin and not look back. The lead singer sounds like he wants to eat your puppy for lunch, but more times than not, his tongue is planted firmly in cheek. My favorite tracks are: Mrs. Christ, V-8 and Recycle me. If you like hard hitting rock with a sense of humor and some interesting things to say– check this out!!

Soundgarden meets Motorhead at a bar during a self-improvement seminar and create pounding heavy guitar rock with melodic injection.

Metal has a new godson and Blister Rust is the freak’s name.

Their album “”Who’s Gonna Scratch Your Itch?!!”” was the FIFTH most added album nationwide on college radio the second week of December 1998 (beating out Metallica (#10) – see CMJ Radio 200 Adds 12/14/98).

“”Blister Rust comes across like a garage band on steroids…a most entertaining release.”” – Renegade Magazine

This says a lot about Who’s Gonna Scratch Your Itch?!! Although it is a loud and aggressive album, it does grow on you.

The album is a tornado that opens up with the song V-8 – it rings out with 3 notes which are followed by the immortal words of every philosopher since Aristotle, “”I just need a place to lift my leg…just one place.”” – a releasing growl – then a solid mosh pit guitar riff and a beat to kick open your front door to and set the front lawn ablaze. It is no wonder MP3.com picked this song as the Featured Hardcore Metal Song from 5/15/99 to 6/15/99 on its site (V-8 was downloaded an average of once every 10 minutes for the month)!

The songs AGE (a tank), Nail Me Down (a classic metal tune guaranteed to make you drive faster to work), Storyteller (lots of changes inspired by band’s all over the rock spectrum) and Cleansing add plenty of fuel to this loud and aggressive album.

Pure unadulterated heavy rock with a message. This album has enough energy for everyone and then some.

The slower more melodic tunes on the album – Recycle Me, Winter and Answer to You – all have different feels and memorable hooks. Mrs. Christ on the other hand is an upbeat animal with a strong message about living it the fuck up and getting on with life. The last song on the album, NBC goes off the deep end and sounds like a heavy late night talk show opener until it spews out classic lines like, “”God hates you, but his daughter finds you a pisser”” and “”Jump the turnstile…it’s cool man we’re related to Jesus.””

Through it all, Blister Rust punches your ears with an attitude that is not afraid to laugh. This band has a kick that can wake the dead yet manages to have a lingering sound that makes you hum their songs. If you like the Black Sabbath to Soundgarden vein of rock – this puppy is for you. Besides, Roger Ebert gave it Four Cocks Up.

Blister Rust is a NYC Aggressive Rock band formed in 1994. The band has released two albums on their own label (Thundermug). The debut album was released in 1997 (“”Birth Is Painful””) and the other in 1998 (“”Who’s Gonna Scratch Your Itch?!!””). Both albums were on rotation on about 500 college stations and charted many times nationwide in CMJ. Blister Rust pounds the human animal to think and prods the listener to reflect. This is a band that sparks the bowl and ignites the soul.

Blister Rust has finished up its self-booked regional tour this summer and is currently working on material for its 3rd album. Look for it in gumball machines everywhere in 2000 A.
