“Don’t Break My Heart Again” is a single by the English hard rock band Whitesnake. The song is taken from the bands fourth studio album Come an’ Get It, and was written by the bands vocalist, founder and leader David Coverdale. The song peaked at number 17 on the UK Singles Chart.
The song starts with Jon Lords organs, along with Neil Murray driving bass playing. Soon the guitars enter along with emotional yet heavy lyrics delivered by David Coverdale. According to Coverdale, both this and “Fool for Your Loving” were inspired by the end of Coverdales first marriage.
The song has proved to be one of Whitesnakes most popular songs, being a part of Whitesnakes set list for many years. Current Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich has also said that “Don’t Break My Heart Again” is one of his favorite Whitesnake songs.
After the songs release it became a mainstay in Whitesnakes set list until 1985.
The singles B-side, “Child of Babylon”, is also featured on Come an’ Get It, and was written by Coverdale and guitarist Bernie Marsden.
