The famous multi million seller song writer Desmond Child and Kane Roberts recall recording original music under the name The Dudes of Wrath for Shocker.

Paul Stanley of Kiss and rock super producer Desmond Child on lead vocals! Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell and journeyman axe grinder Guy Mann-Dude on guitars! Rudy Srazo of Whitesnake on bass! Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee on drums! A heavy metal supergroup assembled one time only for the sole purpose of… performing the theme song to a Wes Craven slasher flick?  Damn straight!

Stanley, Child, Campbell, Mann-Dude, Srazo, and Lee assembled in 1989 like a rock ‘n roll Voltron to form The Dude of Wrath. Their lone mission: to provide the opening theme song to Wes Craven’s failed attempt to create a new Freddy Krueger in the form of Shocker.

His name was Horace Pinker. He was a television repairman/serial killer with a limp instead of a burned scar face, a single knife in lieu of a fistful or razors, and by the power bestowed upon him by the dark lords of electronic media, he survived his electric chair execution with the ability to travel through electrical outlets and television sets and could even body-jump into people, too.

Hardcore horror fans remain divided over the merits of Craven’s loopy stab at Krueger-izing a new Nightmare franchise starring Mitch Pileggi. One thing there is no arguing about is how much the movie’s soundtrack is a treasure. From the schlocker Shocker, here are The Dudes of Wrath performing the high voltage rocker theme song they were brought into existence to give life to:

Format: LP
Label: EMI inner sleeve with lyrics etc.
Year: 1989

5.0 out of 5 stars They just don’t make Awesome Soundtracks like they use to!,
The Shocker Soundtrack is one of those LPs that I like to call a, “Hidden Treasure”! In my experience, only a small and select audience has ever heard of this album and an even smaller percentage of that has had the opportunity to listen to it. What makes this a Hidden Treasure album is that it has an incredible title song played by a one time super-group called “The Dudes of Wrath”. Nowhere else can you get this amazing song, except from this soundtrack. In addition, you have “Megadeth” doing a rendition of “Alice Coopers” hit “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, as well as some classic hair metal-style music for anyone who appreciates that particular sub-genre of Metal. I highly recommend this album to anyone who loves 80s music, and it would definitely make a great addition to anyones collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super soundtrack!,
One of the greatest 80s metal soundtracks ever! The main theme “shocker” is absolutely rockin’!!! Also the old song “no more mr. nice guy” sang by Megadeth is much better than the original version… Too bad they haven’t brought this album out again… Its a must for every metal fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real soundtrack that Rocks! Shocker is a 1989 classic!,
This is one soundtrack that packs a punch.Unlike todays music, this soundtrack really rocks! Proving once again that the 80s had the best music. This is a great metal/hair/rock album.
1. Shocker(10/10)The title track kicks major ass.Paul Stanly (of Kiss) on vocals, Vivian Campbell (of Dio and Whitesnake) on guitar, Rudy Sarzo (of M.A.R.S., Quiet Riot and Whitesnake) on Bass, and Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) on drums. This song will blow you away. [The Dudes of Wrath (Kiss’ Paul Stanley, producer Desmond Child, guitarists Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard and Guy Mann-Dude, Whitesnake bassist Rudy Srazo, and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee). They were brought into existence for the sole purpose of performing Shocker’s same-name anthem. A band created to perform one song only!!]
2. Love Transfusion (10/10) Another great metal song. Iggy Pop on vocals, Guy Mann Dude and John McCurry on guitars among many others involved.
3. No More Mr Nice Guy (10/10) Megadeath (Alice Cooper cover) ALICE COOPER
4. Sword and Stone (9/10) great song performed by Bonfire. Excellent job. This one was written by Bruce Kulick (of Kiss).  The soundtrack to Wes Craven’s Shocker  wouldn’t be the most metal 80’s horror movie soundtrack without a hard rockin’ hair band. So: Bonfire.  “Sword and Stone” was originally recorded by Kiss for their Crazy Nights album but didn’t make the final cut and now can only be heard as an unreleased demo. The song then got passed on to Bonfire, and having heard both versions, I’d say the Bonfire version is vastly superior.  This power ballad covers Shocker’s romantic aspect.  “I am the sword and you are the stone.”  I think they might have gotten their metaphors screwed up on this one. Regardless, it’s a good, sadly overlooked song that will probably be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

5. Timeless Love (9/10) A great love ballad. If you want a ballad dine right 80’s style this is a good one! Performed by Saraya. They do a fine job. Their first self titled release is worth buying. This song is just a sample of what the can do.
6. Shockdance – Alice Cooper. It is funny to listen to because of the rap (Pinker hes a stinker) Ha Ha Ha! Alice Cooper does the vocal work!
7. Demon Bell (10/10) This is the best song Dangerous Toys ever performed.A killer tune.Love the Guitar riffs!
8. The Awakening (8/10)   Pretty decent metal tune performed by Voodoo X.
9. Different Breed (-/10)Dead On
10. Shocker(reprise) 7/10) Continuation of the chorus line at the end of the first song.

If there’s one thing to be said while listening to a hilarious song  “Shock Dance”, it’s that they really don’t make movie soundtracks like they used to. Heck, even in 1989 they rarely made movie soundtracks quite like that of Wes Craven’s Shocker. This bizarre little number called “Shock Dance”, and because their super-group [The Dudes of Wrath: Kiss’ Paul Stanley, producer Desmond Child, guitarists Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard and Guy Mann-Dude, Whitesnake bassist Rudy Srazo, and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee] wasn’t super enough, they enlisted Alice Cooper to provide the main vocals. You’ll also hear the spoken word rap styling of the movie’s fiend, Horace Pinker, though I do not believe this was actually the voice of actor Mitch Pileggi.

Stone cold monster of a man
Half Jack the Ripper and a pinch of Son of Sam
Gashes, slashes, he’s malicious and vicious
He’s a killing machine and he never does the dishes

Want more?

Once I’m inside you, I’m gonna smoke you
I’ll choke you, ahh, he’s gonna croak you
“Pinker the stinker” – the headlines begin
The on-the-scene reporter says he’s gonna do you in

Oh, Alice, how could you? But we thank you for it anyway.

Everyone now… Shockdance… HEY!

—————————————————–
I lay here cold and lonely

Its just this? bed that holds me

You are the blood that feeds me

OHHHHHHHHHHH

I’m feeling kind of weak, I need a love transfusion

My heart is bleeding and its love I’m losing

Gotta have a shot of your love to get me through the niiiiiiight
