A great Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Debut – 95%
Vanadium very first album is very good hard rock/heavy metal release. The main influence can be found in early Deep Purple for they utilise keyboards and the hard rock guitar sound; normal for the period.  We Want Live With Rock n Roll  is an energetic opener made of good solos and the truly personal Pino Scotto vocals.

I Never Lost Control  is true 70 in the rock guitar parts. Sometimes they remind me early Black Sabbath a bit on speed. There’s always a keys solo in the tracks, in pure old school tradition. The tempos are not fast, being more hard rock than heavy metal.  Heavy Metal  is an hymn to this great music with a great refrain and quite mid paced parts. Actually there are some AC/DC arpeggios style on the electric guitars, but they’re very good!

Make Me Feel Better is surprisingly fast! More heavy metal here than hard rock with quite fast drum and more harsh Scotto vocals. Fucking great the solos on this song: fast, melodic, epic wow! After a more mid paced song like Looking For Love is time for On Fire to increase the speed in the tempos. This song has really an heavy metal touch in the chorus without losing nothing in terms of hard rock song writing, especially in keys parts.

The obscure, introspective  Queen Of the Night is the last song of this album. This song begins with arpeggios and a solo that remind me early Iron Maiden. Generally the whole song can be defined as an obscure ballad with always great solos and a speed part during the end. A great song to end this debut that already showed the abilities of a group that would have become legendary in Italy. Great beginning.

Pino Scotto (vocals) Claudio Asquini (guitar)
Ruggero Zanolini (keyboards) Mimmo Prantera (bass) Lio Mascheroni (drums)
