Description
A marvellous Scarlet production. Tyrant Eyes is a German power metal band that this year will celebrate their 10-year jubilee. Gaining the experience they now so much witness by playing at several local as well as many national gigs, it was not until the beginning of this millennium they released their first album. The result lies before me and it is glorious!
The Darkest Hour can probably be represented by a mixture of Nevermore, Hammerfall, Savatage and the later Sentenced; up tempo powermetal with the progressive influences of thrash metal guitar play.
The music and sounds are in good balance, well-tuned and quite varied (it pleases with both thrash metal, powermetal and ballads). For example Out of the Dark reminds me a lot of Hammerfall’s Legacy Of Kings, only with a thrash metal-intro, while Command And Destroy consists more of ?Nevermore-staves? in combination with ?Savatage-burdens?.
The best song on this album? A difficult choice between The Dawn and The Last Light, but probably the first. It is somewhat extremer than the rest of the album and contains a high Nevermore-percentage (I always go weak on that!).
In conclusion: a technical, solid and diverse album. Thanks Ricardo, for again a great Scarlet production.
