5.0 out of 5 stars This album is not for suckers!!,
Many TS fans have slated this album, but being a big big Sister fan, I have to thank my friend who lent me this album, as it was this that got me into Twisted Sister and all their other stuff. It may be popier than previous albums, but it still has sing out loud anthems and sweet air-guitaring riffs, and an overall feel good factor. If you’ve not listened to the TS before, and have ‘One Bad Habit’ then listen to this album and ‘Wake Up the Sleeping Giant’ that is Twisted Sister.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Any Other
it is not very often i listen to any other music than Slade but this album is amazing. Forget things such as how it never charted etc. This album has great music. Stand outs are Hot Love, Love Is For Suckers, Wake Up, I Want This Night and the worse would be Yeah Right and Me And The Boys. I also realised that this album was released months later after Slade wonderful You boyz make big noize and both albums have the song Me and the boys (although different). On the Twisted Sister track it used “”me and the boys we make a big noise”” which could be a slight copy there?

5.0 out of 5 stars What a FANTASTIC Record!
Twisted Sister is credited as being one of the original and most influential sleaze rock bands ever. But, not all of their records are remembered. Of course, Stay Hungry will always have a place in the annals of metal history with classic cuts like “”I Wanna Rock,”” “”We’re Not Gonna Take It,”” and my personal favorite Twisted Sister song ever which is also the title track of that record. But, Love is for Suckers is not quite as remembered. As a matter of fact, I’m a big “”SMF”” and even I hadn’t heard the 1987 release until recently.
The album opens up with such a cool track. Arnold Schwarzenegger used “”We’re Not Gonna Take It”” as his campaign theme when he ran (and became) Governor of California. President Bush should use this track, “”Wake Up the Sleeping Giant”” as his campaign theme. It is about being pushed too far and fighting back. Sounds like it fits, doesn’t it?
Hot Love is up next. Hot Love is the only track off the record I actually heard on the radio a few times. This song is such a cool hair metal track. I can’t help but sing the chorus out loud which is a problem if you are wearing headphones and happen to be in a quiet environment. That a good way to see the inside of a padded van, actually.
The title track “”Love is For Suckers”” follows next. Another cool song! And, at some point or another, we’ve all felt the things Dee sings about here. Something about this track reminds me of Alice Cooper more up beat 80 material.
“”I’m so Hot for You”” and “Tonight” are cool “”commercial friendly”” songs.
“”Me and the Boys”” reminds me of a 60 girl group song such as “”Leader of the Pack”” with a lot more guitar influence. For that matter, “”One Bad Habit”” follows suit with that same style. KISS also did this with “”Then She Kissed Me”” off the Love Gun album.
“”I Want This Night To Last Forever”” follows with an opening that probably inspired the opening of Warrant “”Cherry Pie.”” When you talk about classic hair styled metal, you mean this track!
“”You Are All I Need”” is a beautiful song. It as far “”soft”” as Twisted Sister will go which isn’t “”soft”” at all! This is a fantastic song that you can’t help but sing along to.
“”Yeah Right”” is a song that probably would fit on any of Twisted Sister other records. It a cool song to close out!
There is a sad epidemic among metal fans that claims if an album makes you sing along, it a no good. The are the ones that make fun of the bands I like and like death metal bands from the Netherlands that eat each other. Bottom line, this record does not deserve the insults it gets by the pretentious “”journalists.”” What it does deserve is air play! Lots and lots of air play! Fantastic record that I recommend to all who love hard rock, hair rock, and all points in between!”

“Hot Love” is a song by the American heavy metal band Twisted Sister, released in 1987 as the first single from their fifth studio album Love Is for Suckers. It was written by Dee Snider and produced by Beau Hill. The song reached No. 31 in the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts. “Hot Love” was released in North America, Australia, Japan, Germany and Spain. A music video was filmed to promote the single, directed by Jon Small. It achieved medium rotation on MTV.
Upon release, Cash Box said: “The drums sound like they were recorded in an airplane hanger and there’s enough guitar brawn here to strong arm even the toughest ears. All of the sonic boom, though, is in the service of a truly engaging pop song.” Billboard commented: “Dee and the boys deliver an incisive rock number that buoys their instinctive delivery with much commercial appeal.”
Chicago Tribune said of the song in a review of Love Is for Suckers: “The best song on the album, “Hot Love,” is deep-fried in committed drumming and fluent guitars that don’t overwhelm melody. It’s the best Twisted Sister tune since “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” The Washington Post said “Twisted Sister’s raw image was totally out of sync with the melodic “Hot Love,” an obvious attempt to break into the mainstream market.” Greg Prato of AllMusic retrospectively described “Hot Love” as a stand-out on Love Is for Suckers.
Η πιο αδικημένη δουλειά, από τους ίδιους και τους οπαδούς τους, το “Love Is for Suckers” είναι το πέμπτο στούντιο άλμπουμ των TWISTED SISTER. Αντίστοιχα συνθέσεις σαν τα “One bad habit” και “Wake up (the sleeping giant)” κρατάνε κάτι από το αίσθημα του δρόμου που πρέσβευαν οι παλιότεροι TWISTED SISTER αλλά ειδικά το “Wake up” είναι μια σχεδόν progressive μελωδική σύνθεση, τηρουμένων των αναλογιών.
