Fate has always had a unique style, musically and vocally.
The Equinox cover of “Gypsy” is a pretty good track to kick off this album.

By far the best song on the album is Deceased with “Doomed By The Living Dead”. Not only do they match the excellence of this song, but they inject a little bit of their own metal mayhem into it. King Fowley does a good job of hitting the high notes.

“Desecration Of Souls” is one of favorite Mercyful Fate songs. I was pleasantly surprised with Morta Skulds cover. The guttural death vox gives it a strange feeling but you can tell this band has a lot of talent.

The second best song on the album is Dan Swanos “Melissa”.He replaces the haunting guitar lone with a piano which i thought was pretty innovative.

Vital Remains did a stunning version of “To One Far Away/Come To The Sabbath”.

If you love Mercyful Fate then you can buy this album and be entertained.

In the midst of all this mania for tributes there is a band that really is Mercyful Fate. And this tribute is sensational! Formed almost exclusively by death or black metal bands, the quality of the versions is surprising, such as the great “Gypsy” by Equinox, “Doomed By The Living Dead” by Deceased, “Desecration Of Souls” by Morta Skuld, the almost acoustic ” Melissa” made by Dan Swanö, the exhilarating “To One Far Way/Come To The Sabbath” by Vital Remains, the instigating “Nuns Have No Fun” by Varathron and the spectacular “Black Funeral” by Hemisfear, a band made up of members from Mercyful and Memento Mori. Check out!
Mercyful dhate deserved to be honored is the great
