5.0 out of 5 stars A number 1 album in an parallel universe…, This album features Ty Tabor of King’s X, Rod Morgenstein of the Dixie Dregs (and various side-projects) and the legendary John Myung of Dream Theater fame. It might be said that this album veers away from these artists’ progressive roots but it’s a welcome change. Fans of such bands such as the Foo Fighters will find plenty to like here with the powerful chord sequences fused with sweet rock melodies. The vocal harmonies are reminiscent of that other great progressive side-project Transatlantic and there are also elements of prog blended in for those who, like myself, have stumbled on this band through Dream Theater. None of the performers is at their most virtuosic but the musicianship is clear even though many of these tracks would be quite at home on the radio. In fact, laying back the virtuoso elements has seemingly allowed the performers to really enjoy their few weeks’ excursion from daily duties with their main bands. This enjoyment is clearly audible (most blatantly on track 12 – check it out up there! ^ ) Tracks 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be on my playlists for months to come… I’m sure this CD would have more sales if more people knew about it. There’s something very rewarding when you have a CD no-one else you know has and yet people seem to enjoy it. If you haven’t experienced that yet, maybe this is a good place to start…
