Description

This mob were an interesting band from the Midwest. They played their first gig on November 21, 1988 and had themselves a deal with MCA 11 months later. They recorded this in Atlanta, Georgia with Howard Benson and it got to #161 but stalled and MCA were not pleased at this and dumped them in 1990. They did record a follow up in 1991 but it was all over for them by then.
They were a good melodic rock band pulling in the usual roster of influences of band who wore jeans tucked into cowboy boots. They had the video of a top down car cruising through the desert and some random woman dancing around a barn for no good reason for Rhythm of Action (check this video below).
But it’s a well recorded album and treads the XYZ, Winger road. OK it’s not massively original but its crunchy and noisy and that’s all you need anyway.

Sweet F.A. – Stick to your Guns [1990]    a very underrated band.

Silly names aside (guitarists named Thunder and Lightning? Really?), Sweet F.A. put out one helluva debut album in 1990. These boys from Indiana played southern-styled hard rock, sounding similar to Tesla and Bulletboys. The single Rhythm of Action got some radio play.

A GREAT GREAT album! Of course, it has the “Howard Benson sound”: BIG GUITARS, poundin’ DRUMS and GROOVY BASS but the members of this band were very talented, i can tell you. When I put this CD on my stereo, I just feel ALIVE, like a KISS song you know?: BIGGER THAN LIFE…Prince of the city!!!This album is a mix of pure Rock N’Roll songs(sex, whiskey and wild livin’ u know!)and what I call “emotional” songs: when the mood touch you deep inside, when the singer talks directly to your heart, mind and soul!

Awesome CD. Worth getting both from Sweet FA. If you like them, also check out Tangier.

This album is great. Southern sound, great licks and with two guitar players, the band did great stuff. The voice of the singer is completely genuine. Really, you want a great CD? Find this one right now. After listening to this CD, you’ wanna get in the car, hit the first local bar, grab some girls on the way…and go breakin’ the law!!! Lets ROCK N’ ROLL!!!!

Can Indiana boys rock? You Bet your Sweet F.A.!!They Came, they saw, they Conquered. The bands corn fed roots and good looks and tough as nails hard rock will blow you away. “Southern Comfort” and “whiskey River” are top dollar sound.”Nothin’ for Nothin” will bust your balls!!!!The hole album will lift you up drop you from a 100Ft. flat on your face and make you want to do it all over again!! 10 out of 10.

Awesome CD. Sweet F.A. is one of the best bands I’ve ever heard. This CD has one of the best drum tracks I’ve heard on the song “Prince of the City.” This band needs to make a come back.

I love this CD. More down-n-dirty than the L.A. bands and just rocked beginning to end. Ballads were smoking!! These guys unfortunately I think got lumped with that second wave of copy-like “hair” bands and could never really overcome that stigma. That’s too bad as they to me were much harder and more sincere than that. Good fun rock-n-roll!!!

A pleasant sleaze glam rock a la Motley Crue. I like Whiskey river.

Good hard rock with a little southern tinge here and there. Good production as well. They were my favorite band for about 1 year after this album came out.

“Rhythm of Action” is one of the sexiest songs ever an truly lives up to its name. gotta love those drums.

AWESOME! Southern hair metal. The songs on this CD are all great, with enough originality to hold my attention.

This band kicks ass. Stick To Your Guns is one of my favorite songs of all time. Listened to the CD through high school, and the music still holds up today. Great drinking music. “You’re gonna get your ass kicked around. Knocked down every once and again. You pick yourself up, wipe yourself off, go back and hit ’em again”

This is honest kick-ass “No Bullsh*t” hard rock! his album blows away anything by poser bands like—Wildside, Roxy Blue, Tuff, Slaughter, Slammin’ Gladys, Pretty Boy Floyd, Poison etc. Sweet F.A., like Child’s Play, Asphalt Ballet, Tesla and bands of this ilk play real music and don’t f**k around !!—-Stick’ is a killer disc .

I really like this CD a lot. Had on cassette back when it came out. I looked and looked for this one on CD. Prince of the City and Nothin’ for Nothin’ I think are just awesome tracks. Great band!

AWESOME 80s melodic rock band. In my opinion, one of the most underrated hair metal bands ever! If you like Dokken, Firehouse, Steelheart, or Whitesnake, then you will love these guys.
