Spider`s second and final album. They would resurface a year later as Shanghai. Their single “”Change”” was reissued by John Waite and “”Better Be Good To Me”” was reissued as a big hit for Tina Turner. Essential for those looking for this U.S band earlier material and for fans of songwriter/Spider member Holly Knight
Amanda Blue hiccupping vocals predated Dale Bozzio, but Bozzio worked better with the new wave groove of Missing Persons; Blue voice is quite pretty and reminiscent of Pat Benatar. The other female of the band was Holly Knight. Prolific songwriter, she has written songs for Cheap Trick, Kim Wilde, Scandal, John Waite, Patty Smyth, Rachel Sweet, Suzi Quatro and many more.

This, their second album is a more focused record than Spider self-titled debut, so it ultimately more enjoyable. Their attitude doesn’t sound forced, and the arrangements are very pleasing, especially compared to the more chaotic first album. Between the Lines also includes two tracks that were hits for other artists several years later: “Change” (a hit for John Waite)

and “Better Be Good to Me” (revamped by Tina Turner on her Private Dancer album).
