It no big surprise that the style of SEVERE TORTURE is Grinding Death Metal in the vein of bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE. What really attracted me in SEVERE TORTURE is the excellent technical skills on the debut CD and the great songwriting. No big changes can be found in that field on “”Misanthropic Carnage””, SEVERE TORTURE still delivers the powerful music that brought them in the spotlight.
In essence SEVERE TORTURE can be viewed as one of the best if not THE best band in their genre. Songs like “”Mutilation Of The Flesh””, “”Misanthropic Carnage”” and “”Your Blood Is Mine”” will have many Metalheads tear of their heads of headbanging to this gore-fest. The only conclusion I can draw after this is that SEVERE TORTURE ,with the release of “”Misanthropic Carnage””, have secured themselves a spot at the top of the Death/Grind genre. Metalheads with affinity for Death/Grind can’t leave this album out of their collection!!

See, fellow Death Metalheads. This is what Death Metal should sound like. Death Metal played brutally and harshly while being consistent at the same time. One of Holland (The Netherlands) bands is getting better with this second album, Misanthropic Carnage. Severe Torture exemplifies this fact. With lyrics full of gory fun, this band knows how to play their instruments well, unlike Cannibal Crock. Ultra-deep growling, insane blastbeating, and overwhelming guitar riffs sum up this album. There are some songs that have outstanding guitar half-solos in the midsection of the vein. The best (and my most favorite) song of this album is Your Blood Is Mine. There are also three bonus tracks featured in this album and the production of these songs are almost clearly refined in a good way. These songs are just as excellent as all the others in this album.
Whoever says that Severe Torture sounds like Cannibal Corpse is an absolute nincompoop. Severe Torture is nowhere near the abysmal level of Cannibal Crock plus they are several times better than CC.
Long live Holland Death Metal and all good Death Metal in particular!!! M/M/
