Founded in February 1999 by former members of power progressive metal band Psyco Drama, Section 16 combines the raw energy of seven string guitars, twelve string bass and haunting lead vocals backed by intricate drum techniques. After Psyco Drama disbanded in late 1998, Corey Brown, Ian Ringler, and Toby Kinnaman were then joined former Psyco Drama guitarist Hercules Castro. The band was completed when drummer Jeremy Hoffman of Colorado Springs metal act Jaded Soul joined this talented line-up. Corey’s wide vocal range combined with Toby and Hercules’ hard hitting guitar grooves are paving the way for this up and coming band. With the addition of thunderous bass and drums which Ian and Jeremy provide, the band is described as sounding in the vain of Kings X, Seven Dust and Tool. The first full length CD Identity Crisis presents Section 16 innovative style of song writing…………

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Debut – New sound for the Progressive scene
This is one of the better Debut CDs that I’ve heard in a long time. First off, this is not what I expected to hear from a band who’s past is rooted in Progressive Metal. But what a refreshing delight! In a time where music, especially anything in the Rock world, HAS to fit into one category, Section 16 stands out as a unique breath of fresh air. Section 16 DOES NOT FIT into one style. Although rooted in Progressive Metal, this band transcends ALL styles of Rock. It takes a little while to get use to, but then it hits you like a wall of sound. It will be interesting to see where this band goes.
Let it be said that “Identity Crisis” is NOT one of the great Progressive Metal Albums. It is, however, one of the BEST METAL ALBUMS (with excellent Progressive moments) that I’ve heard in quite some time.
Don’t worry Prog-Heads, SECTION 16 still delivers enough on the technical side and especially in the vocals department. This is NOT Magnitude 9 or even a rehashing of Psycho Drama, but an honest new band trying to stand on their own feet. As far as I’m concerned, they are standing tall in a crowd of copycats, gimmicks, and a re-forming Progressive scene. Check out songs “All You Know,” “Monkey Patch,” and “Alone.” Chuck – The Rover – Austin, TX.

Great band from Colorado Springs, cool guys as well. This band was born from Psyco Drama! Glad I found a copy of this, I kept giving my copies away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock-On
This cd is great. It’s inspired me in different ways, and it…makes me feel happy! If you get a chance, you should BUY THIS!
