The rootsier feel to ‘Racine’, her second album, which was produced by co-writer Rick Neigher, spawned three hit singles in 1992. A backlash came in the form of copyright infringement charges from The Black Crows but Jordan laughed off the accusations after the band also claimed she stole their wardrobe as well (!).
Make You a Believer video:

Move over, Alanis. Step aside, Jewel. Sass Jordan, a singer and songwriter from Montreal, could give most singer-songwriters attitude lessons. Shes got a strong, gut-deep voice, and on Racine, her second album, she does as the album title implies and goes back to her roots. The result is a fine selection of rock and roll, with more than a hint of the blues in it. “Make You a Believer,” “Time Flies,” and “Who Do You Think You Are” are especially strong, showing off Jordans voice to its best advantage. Bypassing the women-in-rock movement entirely–you’re unlikely to find her performing at the Lilith Fair–Jordan heads straight for the rock. Not nearly as well known outside of Canada as she should be, Sass Jordan is well worth discovering for yourself. –Genevieve Williams

Editorial reviews:
…Her seductive, blistering vocal skills are outstanding throughout…

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular CD,
Put this CD in your player, turn the volume all the way up and get ready to rock. This CD has a very “bluesey” rock sound that makes you want to sing along. Not a bad song on the entire CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars My absolutely favorite CD,
I have an extensive and varied CD collection, but if my house was burning and I could only save 2 discs, this is the first one I would get out of the house. The second would be Brother by Cry of Love. Sass is one of the best female rockers of all time, and this is definitely her best work. I’ve had this CD for about 10 years now. I can STILL put it in the car and listen to it for a week straight!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Woman Who Really Rocks!!,
30 seconds into this CD I knew I was hearing the female companion to “Shake Your Moneymaker” by the Black Crowes. If you love that album, you’ll love this, because the songs are much in the same vein – straight up bluesy rock ‘n’ roll. Sass has Joplinesque vocals, but mainly sounds more like Melissa Etheridge. I love the fact that shes a female rocker who doesn’t have to announce to the world what she is. She just gets out there and rocks. That, to me, is the ultimate expression of Girl Power. The lyrics aren’t specifically written from a female perspective either – which is actually a refreshing change and what I think makes the album very accessible to a wide range of people. Sass Jordan and others like her need much more exposure! She is one of my favorite singers and I’m going to buy the rest of her albums ASAP! Any rock fan should have Racine in their collection and play it loud and often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very energetic…,
“she sings like nobody you’ve ever seen!” Coming from my sister, who is no slouch with a guitar and her voice, I thought I’d give her a listen. She told me that this CD would not let me down and she was right. I haven’t heard anything else by Sass but its probably all good. For me, this is the only female rock / blues rock CD that I like more than Shannon Curfmans…and I think that Shannon is ALMOST as good as Sass. I’ll be playing this CD for a very, very long time to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sass kicks *ss,
I had the pleasure of meeting Sass Jordan at a meet and greet after she opened for the Arc Angels in 1992 at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. The lady is just as down home and cool as her music. Racine is one of her finest pieces of work, without a doubt. If ever you have a chance to see the lady live, treat yourself to an unforgettable rockin’ time. Sass is a female version of early Rod Stewart and Paul Rodgers rolled into one (and yes…those rock icons are among her influences). Sass is what all women who want to rock should aspire to. She sings with raw emotion, heart and soul. These whiny little wannabe female rockers of the new millineum should all be required to listen to the likes of Sass Jordan and early Heart cds. Thats the kind of heart and soul all female rockers should aspire to.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! Why haven’t I heard her music before?!,
…what a wonderful surprise this album turned out to be!! Excellent songs — not any “filler” — and a powerful, beautiful voice. I’m definitely going to check out her other recordings. This one is worth buying; Sass Jordan is truly an undiscovered treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless,
This is a great, great album that really holds up well. You can listen from the first track to the last and never hit a bad song. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

I saw Sass Jordan live in San Diego in a small club when this cd was just coming out,the cd is great blues rock, she sounds kinda Joplinish put updated. she was so powerfull live it was unreal and racine is my favorite disk from her it is the most tight and solid in my eyes.rats is a bit rough and not as solid. if you heard sass b4 but not much this is the one to start with. Make you a believer rocks! and pretty much every song is good.she played this hole set when I saw her for the first time and it was awasome.Sass Rocks

5.0 out of 5 stars SONGMAN,
SASS HAS A GREAT ROCK VOICE! NO WONDER SHE HAS SO MANY ALBUMS. I WAS JUST CHECKING SOME OF THE ROCK TUNES OUT AND WAS PLEASENTLY SURPRISED WHEN I FOUND ANOTHER STAR I REALLY LIKE (TONES OF JANIS CHAPLIN).

5.0 out of 5 stars best kept secret …should get more airplay and recognition,
“Racine” is, by far, one of the best CDs available.
If you have not heard Sass (now “Sas”) you are missing out on one of the best female vocalists available.
I have many friends that had not heard of Sass Jordan, but once I let them listen, they are hooked. Give her a chance, if you do not like what you hear the first time, listen again… really listen… and you will hear someone put to words and music their very soul.
If you like Bonnie Rait, Mellissa Etheridge, Allanis Morrisett, and Sheryl Crow, but think that some of their music could use some edge and soul, Sass is for you.
Her releases, in order, are “Tell Somebody” (import), “Racine”, “Rats”, “Present” (import), and “Hot Gossip”(import). If you are not familiar with Sass, best bet is “Racine” for softer edge, or “Rats” for hard rock, in your face vocals and guitar licks. Look for the “Imports” like “Present” for a softer Sass also.
This is the only single artist who has compelled me enough to buy every release she has done. Sass covers all the bases with skill and attitude.. soul, rock, adult contemporary, blues, she is truly that diverse.
…. find out about the best kept secret from our neighbors from the north.

5.0 out of 5 stars blues rockmaddness,
Thank you Sass Jordan, powerful, soulful, and of course, best, when played at maximum volume. Also thanks Amazon, for your recommendations. Your selection of “Racine” for me was right on. This youthful blues/rock movement has really got some talent behind it.With Kenny Wayne Shepard and Johnny Lang leading, Indigenous as best new blues/rock band (great pick Amazon, “Things we do” by them is incredible). Then we have the lovely ladies. From 14 yr. old Shannon Curfman “Loud Guitars Big Suspicions” WOW. Or, Debbie Davies “Tales from the Austin Motel. To SASS JORDAN “Racine”, this is the way music is supposed to be written and played. Sometimes hard, sometimes fast but always from the heart with soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Canadas Best-Kept Secret: Spread The Word
This album is a great place to start for the unfamiliar. Sass Jordan, along with Sheryl Crow, is one of the best rock n rollers to follow in the Stones/Faces tradition without being a mere imitator. Like Crow, she has a lot to say of her own, and does it with distinction. Raunchy guitars, emotive ballads, this is one catchy album. A fantastic live performer as well, catch her if you can. Theres a great web site as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD,
