When Sacred Reich recorded Ignorance for the independent Metal Blade label in 1987, they had a lot going for it and showed some promise lyrically as well as musically. The headbangers’ outlook was never rosy, and on Ignorance (which, in retrospect, sounds much rawer than subsequent efforts like The American Way), they speak out on war, racism, political oppression and other evils. “Death Squad” questions the wisdom of the U.S. governments supporting right-wing dictatorships in the name of anti-communism, while “Sacred Reich” examines Adolf Hitler’s reign of terror. Invigorating as well as disturbing, this bombastic album indicated that Reich could amount to something special if given a chance to develop.
5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums from Thrash Metal heyday,
Sacred Reich never achieved the stardom or relative fame of late 80s contemporaries such as Metallica and Megadeth and on the strength of the output over their entire career, its hard to argue with that. However, on this their debut, they give us a taste of what might have been, if only they had managed to keep the quality at the heights they were able of reaching. Because this is one of the greatest albums of pure Thrash Metal ever recorded. It stomps all over ‘Ride The Lightning’ and ‘Peace Sells’, and is well able of going toe to toe with ‘Master Of Puppets’ or ‘Reign In Blood’. It is quite honestly that good. Every song on it is good, but the stand-out track of the whole record has to be the opening track Death Squad. If a career in Metal has ever got off to such a superb start, I haven’t heard it. Brilliant riffs, flashy solos and even reasonably intelligent lyrics combine to produce a 24 carat Thrash Metal classic. The rest of the album is of the same awesome standard.
This is how they should be remembered though, as a Thrash band who could match Slayer riff for riff. If all of their albums were as good as this one, they could have been one of the all-time greats.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrash Classic
This is an underrated thrash classic. The beginning of Death Squad is one of the greatest intros to a metal/hardcore album ever. methodically bludgeoning riffs with a powerhouse rhythm gives way to breakneck speed that holds its course throughout. comparable to Reign In Blood in its instrumental dexterity and technical precision. ’nuff said…

5.0 out of 5 stars Sacred Reich at their very best!,
This album is essential! Much faster and more thrash-oriented than Sacred Reich’s later releases (which progressively began to place more emphasis on groove rather than speed). Some truly classic tracks on this one. Pure thrash!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sacred Reich Ignorance,
I think this is Sacred Reich’s best album. They have released quite a few quality recordings, But Ignorance really is the one that ends up back in the stereo again and again……..
“Death squad”, “Victim of demise”, “Violent solutions”, “Ignorance”…
