too good to be left out
this album is too good to be left out of any rock collection. The record company screwed the pooch, by not promoting it at all; pulled the record after debuting in the top 100. the cover of “play that funky music” totally blazes, great vocals, awesome guitar work, and the rhythm section couldn`t be tighter. Do yourself a favour: buy this bad mama

While everybody else was blasting Poison in 1988, THIS is what I was cruising to. Roxanne is the great lost classic of 80’s rock. It just had the unfortunate fate of being on Scotti Brothers Records.
this recording was filled with killer harmonies and a really great guitar sound reminiscent of Queen. Nothing to Lose just has the best intro ever …those Drums …YES !!!!!!! I just about wore out my tape of this in 88. A classic, beautiful, well written underrated album.

“”Can’t stop thinking”” is easily one of my favorite mellow tunes of all time. Awesome all around.
Great, great album! From the vocals to the guitar and the hard, driving drum beat! I still play this album all the time. All the songs rock on this album. Pick it up if you can find it. Highly recommended….

Just started listening to this one recently and now I can’t stop. The singer reminds me of Steven Tyler at times and the songs all rock. Nice disc, even the remake of “”Play That Funky Music”” is killer.

one of the most underrated band of the AOR, great Record!!!!!

I just love this one!! Listening to it again for the umpteenth time!!! “”Stay With Me””, “”Cherry Bay””, “”Can’t Stop Thinking”” and “”Play That Funky Music”” …..oh hell…..just lovin’ the whole thing!! GREAT stuff!!!!

This is a great! I like quite a lot of the songs on here, especially ‘Over you’ and ay with me’… but my favourite title has to be ‘Cherry bay’ – what a song! I also love the ‘Funky music’ remake. Very good LP! I blasted the hell out of this LP back in the day. Excellent band though! Wow!!. I’ve been growing with this album; it so charismatic! a sort of cult-LP for me. Imagine that Dokken and Aerosmith (Permanent Vacation-era) go to a L.A. party an’ get crazy all night long. “Nothing To Lose” is one of the all-time classic songs of that era (88-89). MASTERPIECE (produced by Geoff Workman). 10/10. “play that funky music “is a blast of a funny version from these guys. GREAT “CLASSY”80 AOR 81/100 good harmony B.VOCALS & guitar player Superb but sadly ignored release from `88. Roxanne managed to do the impossible and be part of the hard rock/hair metal brigade but sound original amongst a sea of clones with great vocals and guitar harmonies stamping their identity all over this disc. Classic cuts have to be the title track burning through the night, over you and stay with me. Highly recommended for a slightly different take on 80`s hard rock/hair metal. This is NOT AOR this is HARD rock. It blew me away. This band sounds like a mixture of Tesla, Aerosmith and Icon. Recommended for all!

==========================================================

The first side is enjoyable as a feel-good rocker, plus the lead tone is similar to that of Michael Denner (Mercyful Fate guitarist) on “”Don’t Break The Oath”” which is an automatic plus. The intro to “”Nothin’ To Lose”” is one of the best parts of the album, the others probably being certain big choruses. The perfect thing for me to compare this album to is Winger debut. There is nothing out there that sounds more like it, and the leads are as good. Overall, the thing that I take away from this album is that the band had an idea of how they wanted to appear and they stuck to it pretty well, and were fairly versatile within that image.
Then we come to Side B. Top songs are “”Sweet Maria”” and “”Coming For You””. “”Can’t Stop Thinking”” begins with a telephone “”tone”” and an answering machine message from, presumably a late 80s (absolute) FOX. The vocalists vocals are then subject to an effect that makes it sound as if he singing into a telephone…..
Play that funky music is the closer…and it makes you wonder how seriously these guys take themselves. Don’t get me wrong, it is an EXCEPTIONAL cover, and Jamie Brown is probably the only person on earth who could almost get away with a fucking cover of play that funky music…
Are There Any Woman-Cursing Blues Songs? There are so fucking many I lost count.

One of my favorite LPs ever! A goodie!…””My Way”” is an excellent track, “Nothing To Lose”” is a fave,””Stay With Me”” is far the best, I’ve always liked this song, “Cherry Bay”” has a nice groove, “Sweet Maria”” is cool and “”Can’t Stop Thinking”” is a nice song…try to find the missing tracks from each album(in here you are missing Burning Through The Night which is awesome)..good songs, good vocalist. What else do ya want?!…90/100″
