The original “The Green Green Grass Of Home” released 1988. B. side “Telling Me All Those Lies”

“Andy Scott, who I’d become friends with a few years earlier when he produced some demos for my previous band Weapon, would occasionally come along to a gig a guest with us. 1986 and I was having so much fun with the band I decided it was time to get it down on tape. I asked Andy if he would like to produce the sessions.

So with the line up of:
Mal McNulty (SWEET, WEAPON)
Jeff Brown (SWEET, STATETROOPER, GRAND PRIX)
Danny Hynes (WEAPON vocalist )
Bruce Bisland (Weapon, Praying Mantis, STATETROOPER)
Phil Lanzon, (Sweet and now Uriah Heep, on keyboards)
we went into London Bridge Studios record The Green Green Grass of Home. Andy also played guitar and sang backing vocals. It was then I invited him to join the band on a more permanent basis, which he did, until the reformed Sweet went back on the road full time. When he left he was replaced by Tino Troy (Praying Mantis) who I’d been friends with for many years. We worked this line up for a couple of years before we all parted company. I continued with Paddy.

if Status Quo released this it would have been a hit most the members with Andy Scott here have all played in Sweet, with drummer Bruce still there. Great cover! This is as much fun to watch (this is the official video clip), as to listen to. You get to see the influences of ZZ Top, David Lee Roth, KISS, Elvis, and others. It is a fun cover of the classic song.

Sound is not good, clip is edited (big part of the song is missing):

The B side is better actually:
