Description

No Sweat were an Irish Hard rock band, active during the late 1980s and early 1990s. They are best remembered for their single ‘Heart & Soul’, which topped the Irish charts for two weeks in June 1989. The group had two further hits the following year with ‘Tear Down the Walls’ (#4) and ‘On the Edge’ (#11), and 1990 also saw the release of their self-titled debut album, which was produced by Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott (Elliott had taken up residence in Dublin a number of years earlier). ‘Heart & Soul’ and ‘Tear Down the Walls’ were released as singles in the U.K. in late 1990 / early 1991, with both enjoying minor success. The former spent four weeks in the top 75, but never rose above #64, while ‘Tear Down the Walls’ peaked at #61. Guitarist Dave Gooding would go on to become the vocalist for blues-rock band b.l.o.w. with former members of Little Angels

This is great aor. Recommended!

Great songs, great vocals, highly recommended! Gr 8 Record, sounds awesome.

I think you’d like this one.
Produced by KEITH OLSEN (SAMMY HAGAR, THE BABYS etc) the band also enlisted the help of top session guitarist TIM PIERCE (RICK SPRINGFIELD) and members of Canadian act SAGA (Michael Sadler sings backing vocals on all tracks while Jim Crichton programmed the keys). JAMES KOTTAK (Scorpions, Kottak, Buster Brown, Montrose, Kingdom Come, Warrant) plays Drums.

If you are a fan of Shark Island “”Law of the Order”” then you’ll appreciate this one. A real powerhouse! Fans of Baton Rouge or Def Leppard will have their hair blown back by the wall of sound courtesy of Keith Olsen. I love this LP!! “”Heart and Soul”” is a masterpiece. Too bad they only made one. A true gem.

“”Heart and Soul”” is fantastic. Highly recommended!
Saw them live in Birmingham England way back in 1990 supporting Little Angels and believe me if Little Angels had produced a show stopping performance these guys would have blown them away. At the time the band were unknown and it was a shame they did not hit the big time .. or at least a second album. Great album.

Bought the LP and really got impressed by the great production & the melodies, The A:side is great. Enjoy!

from england, i hear this album for the first time somewhere around 1991 or so and you think, hey, these guys are so good, there have to be a follow up. This is an album full with good melodies .an example of a professional sounding rock disc, a bit like Blue Blud, but better..and blue blud is good too..

Fantastic AOR with a tinge of progressiveness. “”Heart And Soul””rocks. Great sound. Too bad they made only one LP. This will blow you away.

very very very nice indeed. Heart and soul is a brilliant song.
pj smith sang backing vocals on a def leppard song.

This album just kicks ass. Blown away by it in the UK when it first came out, I can’t believe it never got the airplay it deserved. Maybe someone marketing team needed to be fired. From everything I heard, the band split up before making a second album, and it was a great loss to us all. Far, far too professional a band to deserve being one hit wonders.

GREAT ALBUM!!!AN AOR MASTERPIECE!A FABULOUS MIX OF HAREM SCAREM, GIANT AND DEF LEPPARD. THIS ALBUM KILLS!!!
It still sounds brilliant. Incredible songwriting and vocals/harmonies. Just can’t believe they only did the one album. Such a pity cos they could/should been HUGE!

I just love this one too!! I see all the comparisons made here….but I’m also hearing a little bit of Johnny Gioeli and even some Danny Vaughn….with a bit of Rocco Fury…. I think “”Shake”” And “”Stay”” are my favorites here….but I really like them all…

Best album in the world with the best group ever. All time classic album.

Great Album, from first to last Song!!! Reminiscent of Def Leppard and a singer that could be Sammy Hagar brother, you will be surprised at how original this sounds. Took quite a while to come up with those 2 points of comparison. A solid melodic hard rock Cd that should have done much better and had a major label release. This LP sets a standard for little known indie band offerings. There is no reason at all why this should not have been picked up and given big promotion. We can’t even blame Nirvana, as this came out first!

This is more Thunder/Little Angels than Def Leppard, and surely can’t be described as AOR, but for me this is worth the entry price alone for “”Heart and Soul”” with it totally overblown harmony vocals and killer mix of guitar/keys. The rest is very good too.

Unlike everyone else, I thought this album standout tracks were “”On the Edge”” and “”Stranger””. But there wasn’t a bad song to be found and “”Heart and Soul”” did kick the album off nicely and set the pace for the remainder. “”Shake”” was typical AOR (nice) and I thought the acoustic & bluesy feel to “”Waters Flow”” was very well done. Not sure about the Def Leppard connection but the Baton Rouge point makes sense…fans of The Storm may also want to check this out. Rating 9/10

On The Edge is my favorite song here. I’ve just rediscovered this fantastic album ! A must have, melodic but still powerful…
Went back and listened to this again, and still agree that the best tunes here are “”On The Edge”” and “”Stranger.”” The ballads were great (“”Stay””) and the attempts to get bluesy were tastefully done. I don’t see this around used music stores a lot, so grab it if you see it.

This disc has a stellar production, sounding that I really like a lot. A good slab of melodick hard rock with a solid production and great sounds. Was always a fan of the song “”Stay”” though! I know Heart & soul cause my friend plays it on her radio show, but the rest of the album is nearly as good as the two tracks I know & love! This will be played a lot more now I think!

very good album. they are great because they´re very well produced and original!

Dead Cheesy but really good pop rock with a Ken Tamplin type singer “”Generation”” reminds me of Blue Tears…KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

Lovely album. Starts off brilliantly and flows smoothly from start to finish. Great vocals, great keys, great guitars and grat songs. You can’t go wrong with this one, it fantastic.

i know it by heart by it is always a real pleasure to listen this Irish band. Excellent hard FM ,excellent songs, super singer… great A.O.R varied and smart. The Japanese import has no bonus tracks.
