Its a pretty cool little album, the first track is a bit melancholy and opens IDENTICALLY to U2s Bullet the Blue Sky, not that thats useful to know Anyhoo, its slightly difficult to describe… I guess the closest comparison I can think of is something like Law & Order or Mother Love Bone, but theres some great RRRock songs in there. The singer has a touch of Bon Scott to his voice… I dunno, its just a great lost rock album, as long as you know its not glam or anything, check it out.
I loved this disc for years, and it still gets frequent play in my house(and car). Like Aero Force Mike said, its kinda hard to put a label on their music. At times, they have a bit of an AC/DC edge to their songs(especially the vocals). I’d also compare them to Dangerous Toys(musically, not lyrically). Just quality hard rock, overall. “Catholic Boy” just drips with attitude.
The singer has a strange voice (a sleazy version of Billy Corgan?) but the music isn’t grunge at all. There are a few Guns N’Roses influences (in fact GN’R helped them and was thanked in the liner notes). Listen to the beautiful acoustic-driven ballad “Raintown”. Its like GN’R “Sweet Child O’Mine” meets Ugly Kid Joe “Mr. Recordman”. Btw, “Raintown” was one of my favorites during my last year on the junior high. Ah, those were the days
I want some of that is a great tune. One hell of a rock a roller, the other songs ain’t that good, but not bad. If u’re a hard-rock fan, buy this album.
