5.0 out of 5 stars Give us Moa
One of the most exciting albums of recent decades, tragically largely overlooked. I have played it regularly since it came out and I never tire of it. As another reviewer pointed its quirky electro jazz dance pop fusion is carried off brilliantly, and the girls voice is really distinctive in a Cerys Mathews kind of way. One track ‘forever’ is so addictive I have to limit the number of times I listen to it. The album has the excitement and newness of a Fiona Apple record but Moa’s style is her own. Moa of this is what the world needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous music for late nights
This is a really wonderful CD. In parts reminiscent of artists like Bjork, Moloko and Morhcheeba but still retaining a unique sound. Gorgeous music for late nights or any other time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Among the best albums you’ve never heard,
I would hardly ever give anything five stars, but considering the number of times I’ve listened to this album (I got a speeding ticket because of it! Isn’t that high praise?) I think it deserves such a rating. Moas voice is not for everybody- many have and will find it annoyingly nasal. I love it, but then, I’m a fan of odd and unusual voices. Her music is a bit like Bjork in spirit, but in no other respect. Its truly a kind of electronic torch-song jazz (with touches of disco and pop). She’s got more wit and verve than the rest of the dreamy electronic crowd (Morcheeba, Portishead, etc.). “Universal” is great pop; why its not on the radio is a mystery to me. Those reviewers who have found it repetitious need to spend more time listening to what pop radio does play!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!,
A bit of Bjork, Portishead, and Jamiroquai rolled into one. Fast and slow beats, addictive melodies, and a unique voice to die for. Definitely not your usual, boring techno music – Moa’s music is innovative! I can’t wait to hear what else she comes up with.

5.0 out of 5 stars fresh sounds, great voice, and electrifying beats,
Moa hits a perfect chord with her debut album Universal. This Icelandic chanteuse hypnotizes the listener with her unique voice and beats. Each track is great, there is no weakness in her songs. The beats are better than Bjork’s, and her voice offsets these beats perfectly. The best new artist of 1999!!

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad to have found her again!,
I had this cd years ago and lost it, and I was so happy to have found it again on Amazon. For some reason, I love listening to this CD in the winter and I just had a craving for it this year. Her voice is really unique and the music is uplifting and fun. Apparently she has gone back to school or work and is no longer making music which is really sad, but at least I have this CD again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jazz singing over a sampling driven music.,
Moa is a new singer. Her voice echoes the later days Billie, well suited for cabaret songs. the music is techno and, particularly the remix of Raining in my heart, is an updated or rather upgraded disco. Is thrilling ..

5.0 out of 5 stars moa!,
To bad MTV sucks these day or moa would be more popular. Moa’s elfish voice sounds so cool alongside some incredible drum n bass beats. Bjork and her should work together sometime! Anyway this album is wonderful get it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars This album, your own little memory cloud,
First of all, let me just say i haven’t even bought the album yet, but i listened to it yesterday in the Virgin Megastore, and oh my God, i couldn’t believe what a great album this is. The reviews are all on the dot — it sounds much like Portishead. Except its more upbeat, and her voice and lyrics are more memorable.
Standout tracks: Raining in my heart, memory cloud, tenderly, virtual affair

My only complaint is that most of the songs have the same tempo and most people would say, “All her songs sound the same”. Sonically they are similar, but, each song is individually awesome.

perfect CD I’m going to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moa,
This is a wonderful debut, all done almost completely solo. Moas Voice sounds much like Beth Gibbons of Portishead, The beats best relate Massive Attack, and a couple of (Jamiroquai) sounds. Her voice is wonderful, hinting jazzy tunes, and quite sensual. I really liked this album. Every new trip-hopper brings something new to the scene, Moa made a wonderful Jazz contribution. The samples are very catchy and this is the music that defines good dance music at its peak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut,
I feel like she has just begun and this just scratches the surface of her potential. only complaint is to experiment more on sounds. Hard beats too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moa is great!,
Moa deserves more than 5 stars for this wonderful CD. I can’t wait for Joy and Pain to hit the radio waves, so everyone can here this fabulous CD and artist!

What is it with Iceland and its vocalists? Móa moves more towards the jazz and pop than countrywomen Bjork, but her voice is just as distinctive. “Joy & Pain” has a great bassline to offset her high-pitched voice, and she handles the quick paces of “Toy” like a champ. She sounds better, though, when the production is lush and she has something to work off of; the more spare “Memory Cloud” doesn’t have the same oomph. But the upbeat energy of “Can’t Forget You” showcase her voice excellently, as does the low growl of “Tenderly.” The electro-house of “Raining in My Heart” has a nice, romantic quality to it (the remix goes slightly deeper into the disco), though “Virtual Affair” tries for sexy and doesn’t quite hit it. Good, perky fun!
