After splitting from “Gang Green” in 1986, this is the 2nd release from Chuck and Glen Stilphen as “Mallet Head” with Morgan Keating on vocals. This record actually has 3/4 of the Alcohol era line-up of Gang Green as Walter Gustafson joins the Stilphen Bros. and Keating on this rock/metal/pop release. There 9 good tracks here. The band broke up in 1990 around the time this record was released. Chuck and Glen moved on to “Scratch” in the early 1990s and later project band “Nuns of Punk” while Walter returned to “Gang Green”.
Yeah Yeah Yeah is a hard rock album, not punk, FYI. And it is freaking fantastic. Great guitar licks, outstanding vocals, great organic sound, good writing. I would say if you are into AC/DC and related hard rock/metal acts, you would enjoy this. I have cranked this loud many times in my life. Shame that they didn’t keep going. A lot of potential here. I think they should get back together and make some more awesome stuff like is here.
Ex- members of Gang Green. Boston’s Chuck Stilphen, Glen Stilphen and Walter Gustafson from Alcohol / Skate to Hell-era GG join Morgan Keating (vocals). These guys were players in several Boston bands including Gang Green, The Freeze, The Staw Dogs, The Outlets, Scratch, Smegma and the Nunz. This one leans more to the rock-metal side of things from these original punkers. “Yeah Yeah” and “Give and Take” are the standouts.
