LIAR are trusted veterans of the European (Straight Edge) Hardcore scene and their debut “Falls Of Torment” already was release in 1996 via Good Life Recordings. Three more albums and several songs on Hardcore compilations followed and established the bands with the fans. Now we finally get something new from the Belgians and the four songs of this split CD take over your body in the known fashion. Hardcore combined with Thrash Metal of the SLAYER kind has been and still is the trademark of this outstanding band. Even Metalfreaks, who do not like Hardcore too much should like this band quite a bit. Heavy and always trying to smash as much aggression as somewhat possible around the listeners ears was the mission LIAR had been on ever since their establishment. So we can anxiously await the hopefully following full length album, because the contained tracks are more than promising.
With SUNRISE we get another, in the Hardcore camp already well known, band on this highly recommended split CD. The Polish folks also have an already illustrious band history and have released three albums with “Still Walking With The Fire”, “Child Of Eternity” and “Generation Of Sleepwalkers”. Compared to LIAR SUNRISE do not stand behind the Belgians in terms of heaviness, but they put more emphasis on catchy melodies and integrate almost Scandinavian sounding guitar runs into their songs. Technically SUNRISE are damn good and you also can hear right away that the guys are no newcomers to the business. The three new tracks definitely wet my appetite for more and I can only hope that this band, too, will soon release a new album.
Without any exaggeration this disc is heavily recommended and it is a pure joy that Lifeforce have signed these two high calibre bands
