Famed studio musician and solo artist. Dudek has played with, among others, Steve Miller, Cher, Boz Scraggs, Dave Mason and Stevie Nicks. Les also played on the Allman Brothers’ album Brothers And Sisters, co-writing ‘Jessica’.
Say No More is actually his best, though probably less well known, album. Dudek finds a more sympathetic producer in Bruce Botnick and the first 3 tracks could have come straight from a Johnny Guitar Watson album circa Ain’t That A Bitch/Funk In The Call Of Duty. In fact more like a Boz Scaggs album than the one produced by Scaggs. The mid to late Seventies were probably the peak years for “Blue eyed Soul” with people like Dudek, The Cate Brothers, AWB, Scaggs and others finding acceptance from both black and white audiences based entirely on their music. This is definitely the area Dudek should have stuck with (rockier numbers etc.).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tunes and playing from Mr Dudek
The Allmans, Boz Scaggs? Mmmm, dont think so. Wonderful tunes and playing from Mr Dudek.
5.0 out of 5 stars What A Sacrifice
I’ve been a fan since the 80s. Like all great guitarists he’s got his own signature sound and licks. There’s a warm atmospheric quality to the music and his vocals, production on the first album from Boz Scaggs with whom he played. He also played with Steve Miller who covered What A Sacrifice on his Book Of Dreams album and as good as that is its not a patch on the original with its atmospheric, soulful, upfront but laid back all at the same time guitar solo. Quality music from yet another overlooked talent.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great LP here.
Nice to have the Les Dudek LP. Excellent player remember him so well from his playing with The Allman Brothers Band Boz Scaggs and Steve Miller and these two sure don’t disappoint.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I had been looking for this LP (at a reasonable price) for 30 years! I am very pleased!
5.0 out of 5 stars so to find the rest of his work from back in the day so easily available simply made my day
I’ve never understood why Les Dudek never made it on his own. He played with everyone from The Allman Brothers (Jessica, Ramblin ‘Man) to Steve Miller Band (Sacrifice) back in the late seventies. His lead guitar skills are impressive, to say the least and I’ve always felt he wrote really catchy, accessible songs that tended to rock your socks off, while the man’s guitar shredding melted your face. Say No More has been a prized LP in my collection for decades. An underappreciated Southern boogie guitar god!
5.0 out of 5 stars I’m a pretty big Dudek fan
I’m a pretty big Dudek fan. His best early work, in my opinion! Who wouldn’t love this LP?
This covers the gamet of Les’ extraordinary talents, combining jazzy riffs with bluesy stretches into southern rock, with a few well-written rock standards thrown in to balance out the couple of mellow tunes.
