Description

The gimmick here is that on each track a hard rock act has been combined with a rap act: Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill, Living Colour and Run-D.M.C., and so on. The idea, as with Run-D.M.C.s duet with Aerosmith on “Walk This Way,” is to achieve musical synergy and commercial crossover, and at least the second goal was met when this album went gold while the movie it accompanied went into the dumper.
Living Colour and Run-D.M.C. meld well on “Me, Myself & My Microphone,” and Slayer and Ice-T make an angry thrash of “Disorder.” But in both cases, the rappers are familiar with the style — Ice-T has a metal band of his own in Body Count.

Official soundtrack of the film “Judgment Night”
Released 14 IX 1993.

This was the first soundtrack album created by Immortal Records. This and the latter two: Spawn (The Album) / Blade II The Soundtrack (also from Immortal) had all songs designed to be collaborations. In case of this OST, it was between Alt. Rock/Metal & Grunge and Gangsta Rap & Hip-Hop

Singles From the Album:
– Judgment Night by BioHazard & ONYX (Promo-Only)
– Just Another Victim by Helmet & House of Pain
– Fallin’ by TeenAge FanClub & De La Soul
– Another Body Murdered by Faith no More & Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.

Track 5 is medley cover of “War”, “UK ’82”, and “Disorder”. All of them were originally performed by The Exploited, and were included on Troops Of Tomorrow.

An additional song called “(You Can’t Kill The) Revolution” was recorded by Rage Against The Machine and TooL, but neither band was happy with the results and was ultimately abandoned.

But, because the film was such a dog, the album pretty much sank without trace.

Most of the tracks on the CD lean pretty much toward the heavier metallic side of pairings, although there are several more mellow moments too. Its all very listenable though – a great example of musical experts from different genres coming together and actually making something new and viable.

Never mind the latest Tarantino soundtrack. If you want to hear REAL musical history from REALLY talented musicians this is the one you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dogs Bollx,
Lets face it, the movie was pretty poor but the OST makes up for it big time. Although a dodgy idea, combining mostly hip-hop and metal bands for each track, its been pulled off incredibly well. I’m not a fan of some of the tracks, but the better ones I can listen to over and over again – Cypress Hill and Sonic Youth and especially De La Soul and Teenage Fan Club. I bought this album almost 10 years ago after hearing the Faith No More track and it still keeps finding its way into my CD player. Definitely one of the best, original movie soundtracks ever released. I wish there were more like it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Judgement Night,
The film might be a little cheesy, but the OST is loud and angry. With the best of the rap world teaming with the best of Metal and alternative this album Rocks. If you like ‘New Metal’ then listen the Daddy.
