Doubt is the second album by the British rock band Jesus Jones in 1991. The album reached #25 in the US and topped the UK chart.
Jesus Jones became best known for their popular hit single “Right Here, Right Now”, which would later become the song used in the K-Mart commercials.
The booklet of this album said it was recorded in seven days in May 1990, but that “the mixing took a bit longer”.
While the album had been finished in the spring of 1990, its release was delayed until the beginning of 1991 by the bands label Food Records.

Following their debut album, Jesus Jones released a pair of singles in 1990, “Right Here, Right Now” and “Real, Real, Real”, which lifted them into the realm of superstardom, in the United States anyway. At home in England, they were grouped in with the so-called “grebo” movement–scruffy young men playing speedy pop songs shot through with humor and adolescent ennui–which consisted of bands like the Wonder Stuff, Neds Atomic Dustbin, and Pop Will Eat Itself, all of which had devout followings throughout Europe. With “Right Here, Right Now”, Jesus Jones secured their place in pop history, albeit as one-hit wonders.
This is a shame, though, as DOUBT, the bands second album, is full of good tracks, among them “International Bright Young Thing”, where a hyped-up, shuffling beat gives structure to peals of guitar shrapnel. “Welcome Back Victoria” is a strange, moody track built on a vaguely Eagles-like acoustic guitar line, and sinister, swirling metallic samples, while “Are You Satisfied?” in perfecting the bands “throw it in the blender” approach of their first album, is easily DOUBT’s best track. Also of note is “Stripped”, a gruelling industrial dance workout that substantially improves on Nine Inch Nails’ early work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mad! – with a rational edge.,
An astonishing album – “Doubt”, although it did well in its day (before my time), it is now largely forgotten and is simply categorized as “another” of those “Madchester-era, indie-dance stuff things” that were prevalent at the turn of the 90s. Certainly there are similarities to the music of the Mondays and “Leisure”-era Blur (who were on the same label) but the songs are highly individual and very catchy, balancing energetic guitar and dance pop with beautiful, incisive lyrics (if you can hear them over the noise). Very much a mood piece, the songs veer from fast and furious aggression (Trust, Stripped) to dancy psychedelia (Who? Where? Why?) to mellow and thoughtful (Right Here, Right Now). But all the songs have that tender, upbeat feel that betrays the feelings of the time (line – “I saw the decade in, wishing the world could change in the blink of an eye”) without it seeming cheesy or dated. The album is a mad, weird experience that is strangely accessible and highly compelling. An album (without a bad song)that you’ll play continuously all day, that is desperately in need of critical re-evaluation. A classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive JJ album,
This is THE album that put Jesus Jones on the pop-map. If you haven’t heard any of the hit songs which came from this album, such as “Real, Real, Real”, “International Bright Young Thing” and “Right Here, Right Now”, then where have you been? It reached No.1 in the album chart way back in 1991, and it is clear to see why. From the pop-y tunes of “IBYT” and “R,R,R”, and the hardcore, stark “Stripped” and “Trust Me”, to the mellow and melancholy “Blissed” and “I’m Burning”, this album covers all the moods you’ll ever be in. Definitely one to buy, whether you’re a dedicated JJ fan or just a browser.

5.0 out of 5 stars they did it first,
This, along with EMFs “Schubert Dip” seemed to soundtrack my adolescent years brilliantly. I could listen to it on my own in my room or have it on at parties with mates.

‘International Bright Young Thing’ is still as good an early-nineties anthem as ever, whilst ‘I’m Burning’ is beautiful and emotional.

‘Two And Two’, ‘Blissed’ and ‘Real Real Real’ are also of particular note and Mike Edwards set the standards for Nine Inch Nails entire career with stripped’.
