DROWNING
Well, that’s a pleasure: no long intro, no keyboard brimborium swelling to bombast, no deep gurgling or mysterious hissing, but straight to the bell. This is how the Swiss Intoxicate present themselves on their current album DROWNING. And then the production: super fat, full on the beet, no frills, no pseudo-depth, but the guitars on twelve, the drums worked with body and soul and the bass constantly grooving. In addition, the five guys also look mighty cool (bald pear, trendy clothes, casual beard), know exactly how to pose in a photogenic manner, and are also brilliant songwriters. Can anyone tell me why Intoxicate don’t have a record deal yet? Because they are not from Ami or England, but from the Switzerland? Because they don’t have a lobby? Have it now: I strongly recommend this band to all record companies who are interested in a counterpart (I said expressly counterpart, not copy !!) to the H-Blockx.
Review in the online magazine Medazzarock, May 2002 Would you
like a mix of CLAWFINGER and FAITH NO MORE?
Then this 5-track record could be something for you. The second song LOST in particular has clearly won my heart: simply knitted, played to the point, the flow from CLAWFINGER and the groove from FAITH NO MORE – what more can you say? Listen in, hot-dip and have fun. A perfect song with nothing to complain about. The remaining 4 songs can’t quite keep up. TRY MY WINGS starts with an ass-cool groove, but the rest of the track falls a little bit qualitatively. HOLY POLITICS, on the other hand, can once again be seen as a clear plus point, but with WAKE UP (slightly above average) and BONEBREAKER (I can’t get anything out of it), unfortunately, it goes back to mediocrity. So we would have a killer, a good song and 3 so-called fillers, for which in my opinion ultimately only jump out 6 points. But don’t let this rather mediocre grading put you off the right path, because you have already successfully followed this path with songs like HOLY POLITICS and especially LOST. I know you can do it – please just show it a little more clearly on the next piece of silver, ok?

Mordor – The Metallic Underground
I am happy to welcome another Swiss band to Mordor. Not from the Death or Black area today. Nooo, something completely new today! This is about crossover! Press the play button vigorously and you will feel like you are 10 years back. It sounds like hitting a RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, an H-Blockx and a CLAWFINGER CD with a hammer into a thousand pieces and adding a pinch of power and a pinch of melody. Cool, that immediately makes me feel happy! Wait a minute, turn up the system ……………..! Yes, this is very fat! Now I jump through the office with a big laugh from ear to ear. INTOXICATE do not reinvent the crossover, nor do they set a new world record in technical gaming. But they don’t have to, everyone else does. They limit themselves to the essentials and do without unnecessary frills. The songs are quite varied and contain some musical surprises. The band does without keyboards or similar things. With various clean parts and a lot of dynamics, they always keep the songs interesting, exciting and entertaining. The production is first class and goes off completely. In short, the CD is at its best and I recommend it to every crossover fan or especially those who were 10 years ago. If you want to roll up the good old BOMBTRACK or DEAF DUMB BLIND days again, you should get this right away.
