Description

Gregg Rolie is responsible for co-founding two phenomenally popular, multi-platinum many times over super groups that indeed are, SANTANA and JOURNEY.
During the 80s Rolie played, wrote and produced on the Santana albums Shango and Freedom, and released his debut, self-titled 1985 solo album and its 1987 follow-up Gringo, before co-founding the all-new Journe-esque rock group The Storm at the tail end of the decade. The Storm released two albums 92s eponymous disc that yielded the #13 Billboard Hot 100 hit Ive Got A Lot To Learn About Love and 96s Eye Of the Storm. That same year, Rolie, along with five other original Santana members, formed Abraxas Pool, a spirited collaboration that resulted in a 1997 critically acclaimed album of the same name.

5.0 out of 5 stars GRINGO will surprise you.
I never had much use for Gregg Rolie, being a fan of post-Departure Journey. GRINGO changed all that. The moving, orchestrated synth-sound may be passe, but GRINGO is the zenith of that style. Bob Marlettes vision is given clear focus by Rolies songwriting and classic vocal style. (Coincidentally(?), Neal Schon also collaborated with Marlette the following year for his tentative LATE NITE opus.) However, it is Rolie who fully exploits the talent that is Marlette, as songs like “Hands of Time” entwine themselves in the subconscious after a few listens. The dreamy, Peter Gabriel-like “I Couldn’t Lie to You” is worth the price of admission alone. A few guest appearances by the aforementioned Schon add some welcome spice to the proceedings as the album winds down. A gem of an album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gregg Rolie Rocks!
Excellent album. As always, Gregg Rolie rocks. His brand of salsa rock is unique and well crafted. Gregg has been one of my all time favorite vocalists since early Journey and that has not changed in over 30 years. This is beautiful collection of tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars love it.
I love this LP. Gregg was great in Santana and Journey, and he is also great as a solo artist.

With this many big names, you can’t possibly go wrong. Its worth the price alone just to see Schon and Rolie together again. Neal Schon, Dan Huff and Carlos Santana are bonuses as well.

Excellent album. All nine tracks are winners, but the opening track ‘The Hands of Time’ is an all time classic song. Other highlights include ‘Dont Wanna Be Alone Tonight’, ‘I Will Get To You’and the awesome Schon/Santana guitar duel on ‘Fire At Night’. An all time classic album. 9/10.

A lot better than his debut album…”The Hands Of Time” is an excellent opening track along with “Don’t Wanna Be Alone Tonight”,”Talk Talk” has a very cool beat,”Too Late Too Late” is catchy,”Fire At Night” is a great song with a very interesting guitar work,in fact is like listening to a Santana song(is not coincidence that Rolie was a member of Santana back in the 70s along with Neal Schon that also played in this album and of course with the main man also in here,i mean Santana)and “I Wil get To You” is my favourite song,a very nice AOR song..an album plagued by great guest musicians like Dan Huff,Vinnie Colaiuta,Nathan East along with Scho and Santana mad this album a jewel…89/100
