Keyboard maestro Gregg Giuffria originally planned to retain the Angel title for his second high-profile cinematic rock show, but the scalding ivories soaring throughout this record prove he fully in charge, making the Giuffria moniker an apt band name. The long, blond angel always kicks off his projects with some cool keys. Wistful weeper “”Call to the Heart”” rightfully remains Giuffria crowning achievement and even a chart glory.

5.0 out of 5 stars STILL DOES ME RIGHT…..CALLS TO MY HEART!,
Simply hands down the best pomp rock album ever. This is without doubt one of my desert island discs. Ok, so where to start, lets see….do you love keyboards set to stun? Well you get them here in abundance. Do you love well crafted songs with hooks so strong they never leave you? Well you get that too! Do you like your vocalists to have a little more originality than the latest Robert Plant wannabe? Well you get one here too! This lp never left my stereo when I first bought it in 1984. It still spins with regularity. Stand outs? Well Greg hair on the back cover for a start..(the man is a God)… though seriously song wise try these, the single “”Call to The Heart”” which is perfectly crafted AOR suitable for radio though not lacking in originality. The magical “”Line Of Fire”” with its swirling intro, and the room spinning “”Out of The Blue”” which is the best thing to which Greg Giuffria put a keyboard since Angel. Don’t let it go out of print again before you think of buying this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning album,
This album is simply stunning. The first time I heard it in the late 80s, I couldn’t believe my ears. Giuffria sets the keyboard on fire, and the rest of the band fills in with melodic energy. These guys were way ahead of their time. Although they’re (unfairly) lumped in with the rest of the 80s hair metal bands, they actually really had something to offer. The music is majestic, bombastic and haunting. Not a bad track on the entire album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Giuffria,
Another great group. GREAT!!!! Giuffria was a great 80s melodic hard rock band with great players. Giuffria was an American rock band that was formed in 1982 by Gregg Giuffria after his departure from the band Angel, If I remember right I think Gene Simmons discovered Angel. The band classic line-up consisted of Gregg Giuffria on keyboards, David Glen Eisley (lead vocalist), Craig Goldy (guitar), Chuck Wright (bass), and Alan Krigger (drums). This was their first Album and had two hits, Call To The Heart witch peaked on the Hot 100 at #15 and Lonely In Love witch peaked on the Hot 100 at #57. This is a must have for Giuffria fans and really any fan of 80s hard rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gregg Giuffria formerly of Angel- a must have
I used to own this little baby on vinyl. This piece was always one of my favorite 80 solo works. I’ve received a few nice compliments from my friends who actually had not listened to this LP for many years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guiffria, Just A Great Sounding LP
If you like songs about drugs, sex, and rock-n-roll. This is for you. If you like a lot keyboards then you’ll love this. “”Lonely In Love”” and “”Call To The Heart”” was the two hits off of this LP, but the LP simply rocks and if like the music of the 80, then you’ll truly love this debut by Guiffria.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic melodic rock album,
After the demise of the highly influential (and criminally underrated) band Angel, keyboardist extraordinaire Greg Giuffria launched one of the 80 absolute finest melodic rock bands, appropriately named Giuffria. He was joined by powerhouse vocalist David Glen Eisley as well former Quiet Riot bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Craig Goldy.

Giuffria debuted in 1984 with a self-titled album that is for all intents and purposes the perfect snapshot of the era. It combined the arena rocking sound of bands like Journey and Foreigner with the harder-edged style of the emerging Hollywood hair metal scene. The result was a keyboard-heavy (naturally) melodic rock sound with catchy guitar hooks and David Glen Eisley “”silk and steel”” vocals. It featured hit singles in the moving Call to Your Heart and Lonely in Love, but just about every song on the album is just as memorable. Giuffria keyboards set the tone right at the start with the majestic intro to Do Me Right, and really it all uphill from there until the very end, when the throwaway introductory track The Awakening and the way too mellow Out of the Blue (Too Far Gone) rob the album of its momentum.

Giuffria would evolve into House of Lords.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Rock And Roll Band Here,
I have liked Guiffria since they first came out in 1984 with this album. Guiffria came through with some good old hard rock to keep the trend going. This album was superb back then and it is just as fresh today as it was then. With the garbage they call music today, we need more bands like Guiffria and more hard rocking albums like this self-titled album. If you like good rock and roll, and hard rock at that, this is the album to have in your collection.

American rock band Giuffria (named after the keyboardist Gregg Giuffria) debuted in 1984 with a self-titled album, peaking at #26 on the Billboard charts. The album remained their most successful release but that’s not something to be surprised at – the great Andy Johns, who worked with Free, Quiet Riot, Rod Stewart, Van Halen, Cinderella and many more co-produced “Giuffria”.
The highlight and the most commercially successful single from album is “Call to the Heart”“Do Me Right”“Dance” and “Lonely in Love” are some of the other appealing rockers on “Guifrria”. What I love about this album is that it’s very keyboard-driven and I am enjoying that forcefulness track after track. There are no surprises on the record because it once again follows the AOR formula that is designed to appeal to the mainstream audience. However, it’s still a charismatic, perfectly crafted melodic wonderland.
“Giuffria” is one of the most underrated AOR albums of the ‘80s and it makes me so mad because the radio stations should’ve made them kings! Nevertheless, the album will forever remain a must-have by fans who are crazy about everything that is AOR!
