GILLA BRUJA: Tooth and Nail [Similar to: Sepultura; the heavier bits of Ministry; Fear Factory; Godflesh. Strange
band name. Strange song titles. The liner notes sound a little, bit, well, horror B movie (but I kind of like the myth the band seem to have constructed around themselves). Bloody good band though. Death metal meets industrial meets grindcore. They say quality counts over quantity. Well there are 11 tracks and yet this album only lasts a little over 27 minutes. Why? Because there’s absolutely no bullshit and no padding and certainly no nice little catchy hooks to lure in the teenyboppers who think they can be alternative or a metalhead by buying a Limp Bizkit album. Good opening track, all atmosphere, no tune, bit like some of those weirder Skinny Puppy tracks like ‘Fritter’ or ‘Draining Faces’. Just the thing to scare off any teenyboppers who do stray towards this album.
