Description

Brian Johnson from AC/DC used to be the vocalist for this band until Rob Turnbull took over vocals when AC/DC’s singer Bon Scott had passed and were looking for another vocalist.

No Sweat is the final studio album by British glam rock band Geordie and the only one the band recorded after their original vocalist Brian Johnson joined AC/DC.

The opening title track does model itself on a suspiciously familiar (if hardly patented) AC/DC riff, but to Geordie’s credit, new singer “Doctor” Rob Turnbull’s cleaner vocal delivery sounds nothing like Brian Johnson’s, being more reminiscent of Saxon’s Biff Byford, if anyone. Ensuing first single “This Time” also dispels any worries of an all-out cop-job with its totally un-AC/DC-like pop sensibilities. Then they offer two spectacular entries such as “Hungry” and “Oh No!” (mixing electric and acoustic guitars in a way that’s pure UFO). “Move Away,” “Time to Run,” and “Rock & Roll,” contain catchy choruses and an effective AOR sheen redolent of Foreigner.
Fans of the group’s original incarnation may find something of interest here, same thing goes for all the AC/DC fans.

==================================
Geordie were a rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, England with Brian Johnson (vocals) later with ACDC.
in 1980 Johnson became a member of AC/DC to replace the late Bon Scott.

After AC/DC lead singer, Bon Scott died in February 1980, AC/DC chose Brian Johnson (whose vocal talent had previously been praised by Scott) to take over lead vocal duties. Johnson first appeared with AC/DC on their album, Back In Black.
In 1982, the original Geordie, but without Johnson, re-grouped as a quintet and went on to record an album titled No Sweat in 1983 with new singer ‘Doctor’ Rob Turnbull and additional guitarist David Stephenson. The album released on heavy metal independent record label, Neat, but had no major success.
At the end of 2001, during an AC/DC hiatus, Johnson had a one off reunion, for a short British tour, with Geordie 1977-1980 line-up, performing largely hard rock cover versions.
