Formed, as their name would suggest, in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Geordie were one of the groups that made hard rock popular in the singles charts during the 1970s. A burst of four top forty hits inside a year hinted at greater things to come, but fate decreed that the group would become better known as a live draw. If chart hits proved hard to come by, the group were regulars on the tour circuit for the next few years before coming to a natural end in 1976. A second incarnation emerged soon after and toured almost non-stop for the next three years or so. The sudden death of AC/DC s Bon Scott and his subsequent replacement by Geordie lead singer Brian Johnson brought Geordie to an end for a second time, although the original group has frequently reformed for nostalgic reunion shows. It is indicative of the professionalism of Brian Johnson that he can switch effortlessly from the Geordie hits Can You Do It and All Because Of You to the many hits of AC/DC and keep the audience enraptured throughout.
