(“Eddie Money Maybe I’m a Fool. 1979 single charting at #22 in the US in April 1979, and #51 in Australia in May 1979. From the album ‘Life For the Taking'”)

Dig past the period-piece production values (oh, the strings!) and it’s easy to see why “Maybe I’m a Fool” just missed the Top 20 in early 1979: Money, with a quiet and confidential delivery of these “hey-baby” lyrics, illustrates just how much depth he’s always had as a singer. Unfortunately, this overcooked take is begging for a stripped-down redo, but there’s still magic in the vocal, so we’ve placed it here on our list of the Top 10 Eddie Money Songs.

Eddie Money (born Edward Joseph Mahoney, March 21, 1949) is an American rock singer-songwriter who found success in the 1970s and 1980s with a string of Top 40 hits and platinum albums. Life for the Taking is Eddie Moneys second album. It was released in 1978 via Columbia Records. The album includes the singles “Can’t Keep a Good Man Down”, “Gimme Some Water” and “Maybe I’m a Fool.”

5.0 out of 5 stars SO GLAD THIS IS AVAILABLE
When I look up music from this era, I never find it on cd unless its a “Super Group’, believe it or not, I still have it on vinyl, bought when it first was released!!! And Eddie is the only guy to write a love song titled with my name. I hated it as a teen, but now it is a honor, although I would not want my oldest girlfriends to serenade me again. Its a great album. Definitely get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars
Title track kicks ***. Eddies vocals and Jimmy Lyons guitar solo make for one of the all-time best rock tracks. “Gimme Some Water”, “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down”, and, “Rock and Roll The Place”, are all solid tracks. The track “Maureen” will have you snappin’ your fingers and feeling good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Second Great Eddie Money Album,
LIFE FOR THE TAKING is Eddie Moneys second great album in a row. It contains several great songs, but the standouts are “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down” and the outlaw anthem “Gimme Some Water.” A few songs are obvious filler, but there are enough good ones to make this a 5-star album.
