While Dol Ammad is clearly inspired by Therion, they take their sound in a very different direction. Whereas Therion relies on an orchestra, Dol Ammad relies on electronica. While this does allow for some interesting possibilities, it also means that some of these songs are cluttered with ostensibly random noises, and the skill of the band is occasionally overshadowed by what should only be embellishments. But all in all, this cd is very promising. The sound quality, for a demo, is outstanding, and the choir in particular sounds amazing. I certainly hope this band is eventually signed and allowed to mature, because there is a lot of raw talent here, it just needs to be refined a bit.
