Disarmonia Mundi – Nebularium
All Metalheads pay attention! Italy presents one of the finest bands that plays Melodic Death Metal: DISARMONIA MUNDI. Instead of choosing for a demo, the band decided to attract the attention of people by recording a full-length CD at their own studioâ¦the result is “”Nebularium””.
The description of the music of DISARMONIA MUNDI for me starts with something that is rather exceptional for Death Metal: Emotion. Without too many Doom Metal passages this album has an aura of sadness around it, almost like OPETH does. It’s no big surprise that this band is on of the bands that DISARMONIA MUNDI admires, along with ARCH ENEMY, SOILWORK and IN FLAMES. The multiple facets of the music feature the characteristics of these bands without copying their concepts blindly. As this band deserves, a short track-by-track overview of “”Nebularium””.

“”Intro D.M.”” starts of with some percussion, and continues in clean vocals with fantastic melodies draped over it.

“”Blue Lake”” is a song that would have fit perfectly on OPETH’s “”My Arms Your Hearse”” or “”Still Life””, and it would be one of the better tracks. In my opinion the best OPETH track that was not written by OPETH! Finally a band that matches their brilliance! And listen to the IRON MAIDEN like solo near the end!!

“”MechanicHell”” shows a different face of DISARMONIA MUNDI, starting relatively calm, followed by an almost ARCH ENEMY solo and continuing in a SOILWORK meets IN FLAMES fashion, again, without sounding like them too obviously.

With “”Guilty Claims”” they go in the OPETH direction again, but the song is harder to categorize. A definite Doom Metal feeling shines on this track.

“”Burning Cells”” features the more Thrashy elements of the Gothenburg style, that AT THE GATES is legendary for. The technical skill on this song is incredible!

“”Demiurgo”” is the epitome of emotion! ANATHEMA would be thrilled with such a song, which is still more in the Death Metal corner. From the acoustic intro to the enchanting riffs, the heavy passage, and back to the emotional riffing⦠goose-bumpsâ¦

The title track seemingly is a perfect closing track, not as heavy, good melodies. Not the best track, still fantastic!

“”Awakening”” is the acoustic closer of the album, with a Blues feeling over it, it for me feels as a statement of the band to the fans and record labels: “”Wake up, we are gonna conquer the Metal-scene””.

This production is really awesome for a self-production, everything sounds just right, from the technical guitar work by Ettore Rigotti and Simone Palermiti, the creative drumming of Ettore Rigotti, the bass lines of Marco Andreis, and the growls of Benny Bianco Chinto. The only slightly negative point would have to be that the clean vocals are not very loud in the production, which is a shame as they are damn good! The vocal diversity on the record is big, from clean to growls to more screamy vocals.

“”Nebularium”” is a synonym for emotion, talent, creativityâ¦brilliance. DISARMONIA MUNDI combines the best elements of their favourite bands and does it in such manner that most bands should bow their heads in shame. If this band can achieve a work like “”Nebularium”” less than 2 years after formation, what brilliance is there to come from them after this? Record Labels, act now, it just might be your best move ever! “
