This album goes places that newer CD’s don’t. This guy is a great guitar player too. One thing about Cline is his ability to achieve that bigger than life, timeless production that has far less of a technical sound, but one that breathes effortlessly. “”Malefic Influence”” was originally released in the year 1989. The only musicians from the first line-up were: David Neil Cline (lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars, lead and backing vocals, keys, Hammond organs, bass guitar) and J.D. Donnelly (bass guitar, backing vocals). The new faces on board the band were: Dexter Arney (drums), Bill Cozy (guitar) and Mike Combs (backing vocals).
David’s music is much more melodic and catchy in comparison to the debut thanks to him among others. The music recorded on “”Malefic Influence”” is spontaneous, rhythmical, wild at some moments, and also more subdued another time. There are many melodic enough and complex solos and dynamic lead guitar parts. A classic sound of Hammond organs calls a great wizard of this instrument – Jon Lord of Deep Purple.
“”Malefic Influence”” is a considerable progress in relation to the debut. David’s guitar manner reminds me of George Lynch and Nikolo Kotzev. Yes, his second album WILL be liked by fans who love American hard rock music from the eighties and such bands like Dokken, Motley Crue and Skid Row. David Neil Cline is a charismatic vocalist and the guitar virtuoso in one!

What I like about this release is how the music has a driving rhythm, while not edging out the melody of the guitar work or vocals. All the instruments have their place where they “fit”, and David has done an excellent job finding where each of them are, and plugging them in.

“Malefic Influence” was originally released in the year 1989, and then remixed and re-released in 2001 as above. The only musicians from the first line-up were: David Neil Cline (lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars, lead and backing vocals, keys, Hammond organs, bass guitar) and J.D. Donnelly (bass guitar, backing vocals). The new faces on board the band were: Dexter Arney (drums), Bill Cozy (guitar) and Mike Combs (backing vocals). Despite a track “I’ve Been Told” of the debut CD, all tracks have never been previously released. Having a great respect for all the musicians in the band, I think that the most important “acquisition” was Bill Cozy’s jumping into the line-up. I admit that David’s music is much more melodic and catchy in comparison to the debut thanks to him among others. The music recorded on “Malefic Influence” is spontaneous, rhythmical, defiant, wild at some moments, and also more subdued another time. | I think David’s CD’s have a great 80’s feel to it. Rock on Man You kick ass!!
I think David has great taste in his music. He can play anything when he puts his heart to it. I think he is really talented and this CD proves it. I think all his songs are great. I can’t wait for his new CD to be released.

The re-release of the extremely hard-to-find “Malefic Influence” on CD (something we wished for when we were presenting his first CD “A fit of rage”!), where David shows a clear shift towards more hard rock (the use of hammond organ has also contributed to this, which makes the band’s sound more reminiscent of musical frequencies of the seventies). From the tracks of the “Malefic” album, ” “Suzy | Homewrecker” easily stands out, while “Malefic Influence”, “A matter of time”, “I have been told”, etc. are also quite good. “Malefic…” costs $18 and can be ordered from: GAZOCHTAHAGEN RECORDS, 3593 DIVISION, CASCO TWP.
