5.0 out of 5 stars Fields of Plenty!
If you are Corey fan this one is a must. Very adult contemporary and some of his best work to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimmy Rae and Blind Faith
In my opinion Jimmy Rae and Blind Faith are Harts best songs ever…very soulful and timeless yet each induce a very different feeling. Reminiscent of Eurasian Eyes…unique and evocative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Including Cory’s Version of Can’t Help Falling In Love,
Cory Hart is one of my favorite Canadian Pop Star who made huge hits during 80s such as NEVER SURRENDER and CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE, originally an Elvis Presley song.

The album features that Elvis Presley cover as well as excellent songs such as I AM BY YOUR SIDE another huge hit from this album and DANCING IN MY MIRROR an uptempo rocker and TAKE MY HEART which should have been an huge hit. Album production and mixing is so great that you can find every track really enjoyable.

Verdict: Forgotten 80s masterpiece is available again.
Rating: 95 out of 100. Better than Boy In The Box. Probably best in his career.
Recommended for 80s power pop fans who love Outfield, Glass Tiger, Bryan Adams, Richard Marx and Survivor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Corey Hart Album
Yes, this album definitely surpasses Boy In The Box and First Offense. The production is outstanding. The songs are lyrical. Coreys voice sounds mature. It doesn’t even feel like this came out in the 80s! I can’t ask for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of the the 1980s,
Corey Hart has been my favorite singer since I was a little girl. His music is so great. If you like Canadian music like Corey Hart.

The hit single, “Sunglasses at Night” propelled Canadian pop star Corey Hart to the top of the charts and helped his debut album, 1983s First Offense, become a major hit in the United States and Canada. Born in Montreal on May 31, 1962, he traveled frequently as a child, living in the Bahamas with his father, but primarily following his mother through Mexico, Spain, and Florida, among other places. His early efforts to sign with Canadian record companies were fruitless; he then went to New York, worked for a while, and returned to Canada, eventually signing a contract with Aquarius Records. His cool, athletic good looks made it easy to promote him as a post-teen sex symbol, but while his songwriting never managed to get very deep, he sang with a passion that made his songs appealing. Boy in the Box, the 1985 follow-up to his debut, produced a hit single with “Never Surrender,” which would remain his highest-charting song. His next album, Fields of Fire, met with some commercial success, but after that, his fortunes began to wane in the United States. His next two albums garnered little attention and 1990s Bang was his last with Aquarius. 1992s Attitude and Virtue was his first album with Sire/Warner, before he joined Columbia and released a self-titled album in 1996 and 1998s Jade, which Hart describes as his best-sung album to date. He continues to write songs and lives in the Bahamas with his wife and three daughters.

Lots of of people I know smirk and laugh mockingly if the name “Cory Hart” gets dropped, but, honestly, the more I listen to his stuff, the more I think he’s one of the most unfairly judged Canadian artists of all time. Yeah, his songs are full of eighties-sounding pop hooks made with eighties-sounding synthesizers. Yeah, his “look” and the posturing going on in the music videos he made are very dated and often described as being cheesy, but there are so many bands from the eighties that rocked the same looks and used similar instruments to achieve their sound. Corey Hart, on the other hand, took many of the same looks and instruments that were all the rage back in the eighties and, instead of making music that imitated other popular groups of the time, created his own unique sound. His voice is powerful and unmistakable and his music and pop melodies are original, interesting and completely memorable.

Fields of Fire, Cory’s third album, is probably his best. Although singles from his previous albums, such as “It Ain’t Enough”, “Never Surrender”, Sunglasses at Night” and “Everything In My Heart” were absolutely brilliant examples of eighties pop at its finest, his previous albums didn’t have the kind of consistency found on this one. Fields of Fire, however, is through-and-through a great album. Every song’s catchy, atmospheric, well-constructed and unmistakably Corey Hart.

And that’s not to say that Fields of Fire doesn’t contain its share of the aforementioned brilliant examples of pop music. “I Am by Your Side”, “Take My Heart”, “Goin’ Home”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, “Jimmy Rae” and “Is It Too Late?” are all examples of this. And the rest of the songs on this album are still excellent, instead of just “okay”, which is how I would classify the songs between the hit singles on his last couple albums.

I’m waiting for Corey and his music to have some kind of renaissance, where people finally accept that he was a pretty awesome composer and singer. I can laugh at the dated, ridiculous trends and fads from yesteryear just like everybody else, but I think Corey’s stuff is just too good, too catchy, too fun and memorable to not be a part of people’s playlists like so much other eighties music is. At the very least, I’d love to hear just a few people apologetically say “yeah, Fields of Fire and the rest of Corey’s hits are pretty awesome” instead of seeing smirks and hearing mocking laughs of prejudice in the most literal sense of the word.

Far more mature than first two of his records, essentially because of the two last tracks. Subtle ‘I Am by Your Side’ & melodic ‘Take My Heart’ are among the best ones here, too. Next his album is goin’ to be even more mature, but then he started lossing his young vitality.

This is a great album, with 4 songs that can be called superb – “I am by Your Side”, “Goin’ Home”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, and “Blind Faith” (chronologically) – and a remainder of material that is also quite worthy.

Some critics think Hart’s voice is flimsy; I disagree completely. It has a sultriness that is instantly recognizable, and it never sounds as if he’s straining.

“Goin’ Home” and “Blind Faith” were especially pleasant surprises for me, because they were not on his _Singles 1983-1991_ discography for some reason. They are two of his best, most emotional songs – especially the latter.
