CATS IN BOOTS: Demonstration Japanese copy. Rare.

Recorded in 1988 in Los Angeles, California, ‘Demonstration: East meets West’ is the epitome of what makes Hair Metal the greatest music in the world! It sleazy, nasty, catchy and cool – re-releasing 2 classic CATS cuts “”Girl All Right, Tonight”” and ‘The Bayou Fool”” (that can only be found on this record) as well as the original versions of “”Her Monkey””, “”Judas Kiss””, “”9 Lives””, “”Bad Boys”” and “”Heaven On A Heartbeat””.

A sleaze metal band that at times beat bands such as Motley Crue at their own game, however disinterest caused this trashy rock band to disband with little fanfare.
Guitarist Takashi “”Jam”” O’Hashi had reached stardom in his home country of Japan while wearing traditional Kabuki makeup and claiming to be “”the second coming of the devil”” in the band Seiki Matsu. But he had his eye on American acclaim, and together with his bassist friend Yasuhiro “”Butch”” Hatae they headed to Los Angeles. It was there that they spotted a band called Merri Hoax, and more importantly their singer, Joel Ellis. The persistence of O’Hashi and Hatae won Ellis over, and with the addition of his drumming band mate Randy Meers, Cats In Boots was born.
They recorded a demo and then went off to Japan where O’Hashi name and rock magazines helped push the album to #1 on the independent charts on it way to selling over 10,000 copies. The first major label release, Kicked & Klawed featured some re-recorded versions of songs of the East Meets West demo and shot to #3 on the Japanese charts, unfortunately success was limited elsewhere.
Their fate was sealed when they were dropped from their record label and Ellis left to form Heavy Bones (a band that included Quiet Riot and W.A.S.P. drummer Frankie Banali). An album of unreleased songs would resurface several years after the band disintegrated. Several members reunited in 2003 for a mini-tour in Japan, so future material is not out of the question.

Joel Ellis – lead vocals and harmonica

Quite possibly THE. MOST. UNDER-RATED “Hair Band.”
A room-mate once described them as a “good Motley Crue.” Take that as you will, but they are. Better, that is. And I mean “Dr Feelgood” Crue! Get this one because you’re a completist, but get “Kicked an’ Klawed”, too.

Had been searching years for this baby. The songs on here that later made the Kicked & Klawed album are slighly rougher but still have that glam sleaze charm that made me fall in love with this band!

I love this band! I though it is kinda pricey, BUT its worth every penny. If you like “Kicked and Klawed” I highly recommend this! Very talented band that should’ve made it big!

Hell! Its worth owning this just for The Bayou Fool alone!! This is one funny and catchy tune! Takashi Jam Ohashi is one hell of an angel on guitar. What I would give to have seen these guys live in an LA club!

Super sleazy rock n roll taking its cue and swagger from Aerosmith`s well worn blueprint and turning everything up to 11.In total 7 rockin tunes with the pick of the bunch being Bad Boys,Judas Kiss and Her Monkey with the rest not far behind. Highly recommended and in my opinion their best release.

Finally got this today for the first time it kicks some serious ass remind me alot of Faster Pussycat, Alleycat Scratch, Alleycat Smile, a little bit bluesy like Aerosmith and maybe a little Motley Crue thrown in as well i love the songs Bad Boys, Judas Kiss, Girls All Right, Tonight these guys rock.

Very good release. Great sleaze & hard rock tracks: “Girls All Right Tonight” & “Judas Kiss”(this one with a great harmonica performance) are a couple of songs,”Bad Boys” is a crazy rocking mix of Glam & Hard Rock,”9 Lives” is an excellent one,”Her Monkey” rocks & “Heaven On A Heart Beat” ends the mini album rocking too all along…yeah, buy this one 4 sure!.88/100
