Description
By combining their dedication of blazing punk and extreme wrestling, the Bump-n-Uglies provide their Diary… with graphic tales of blood and chair shots. The self-proclaimed champions of Detroit rock and wrestling belt out fours songs of three-chord chaos that’s topped off with crude but blaring vocal shouts and tongue-in-cheek guitar solos. Amidst the lyrical cartoon violence and fast-paced aggression, the sped-up rendition of Ike and Tina’s “Proud Mary” takes the cake. With that, Diary of a Madman proves that the Bump-n-Uglies aren’t afraid to step into the ring and challenge all opponents who attempt to out maneuver and out rock them.

The Bump-N-Uglies were a huge part of the Detroit hardcore scene at the time. The Bump-N-Uglies had always been ECW fans, and had always mixed ECW-style wrestling with their live shows. Being that Madman Pondo was one of their favorites, it was only natural that this record be a tribute to the Madman himself. This was the first release with sleeve printing by Thingmakers, who did a great job in full color even though it was not necessarily requested due to the Transparent Records budget. The Bump-N-Uglies organized a great record-release party for this single, which included an appearance by Madman Pondo to sign records and wrestle during a break in the show. As always, blood, sweat and mayhem ensued.
