Review:
Bite Down Hard is the third release from Britny Fox, and the first to feature new vocalist Tommy Paris.
Songs such as “”Closer To Your Love””, “”Shot From My Gun”” and “”Look My Way”” highlight this ALBUM. The guitar playing of Michael Kelly Smith is impressive throughout.
Released at the end of the “”hair metal”” era, it didn’t as well commercially as the groups other albums unfortunately. Tommy Paris is a good singer in his own right, but it’s not the same without original vocalist Dizzy Dean Davidson. All in all a fairly good album, it gets one thumb up.
1991’s Bite Down Hard was the third full-length album from Philadelphia-based rockers Britny Fox. This was the band’s first effort following the bitter departure of vocalist Dean Davidson (who formed Blackeyed Susan). Newcomer Tommy Paris joined the band, and the result is probably Britny Fox’s strongest, yet least appreciated album.

With Davidson out of the fold, the band ended up relying less on the kind of gravel-voiced screams he used to provide. Paris could scream when necessary, but he had a strong “”clean”” voice that made the songs on Bite Down Hard go down a lot easier. Ironically, Davidson would drop most of his screaming for the Blackeyed Susan debut Electric Rattlebone, and the result is almost identical to Bite Down Hard. The songs on this album are stronger overall and less gimmicky than the band’s previous work. Leadoff single Six Guns Loaded starts things off with a bang (pardon the pun), and features a guest appearance by Ozzy’s guitarist Zakk Wylde. Other highlights are the mellow, not-quite-a-ballad Over and Out, Look My Way, and Lonely Too Long, which is a single in the Long Way To Love mold.

The third time should have been the charm for Britny Fox, but by 1991 fewer and fewer people were paying attention to the hair metal scene. It would take another 12 years before the band would issue another studio album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fan of rockin music!,
The album is fantastic!
Every track is a good solid song, a very rock and metal based album. Tracks I love are – six guns loaded, louder, closer to you love, black and white and lonely too long. But all the tracks are good!
Its very different from the 1st album as Dean Davidson isn’t on this. And because of this the album is more metal n rock than glam rock. But most def worth buying, I am in no way disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good overall album,
Britny Fox released their third album at a bad time when rock music was losing its popularity. But new singer Tommy Paris co wrote all the album’s songs and there is not a single weak track on here. His vocals sound better than Dean’s with a more melodic sound while keeping the rock element.
Michael Kelly Smith’s guitar is shredding all the solos and there is even a guest solo from Zakk Wylde on the first track Six Guns Loaded.
Other good tracks are Closer To Your Love and Look My Way.
In my opinion, this is the band’s best effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars DON’T LET THE HAIR FOOL YA!,
So very impressed with this “”hair band”” album! Very well put together tunes and surprisingly heavy!…If you love glam rock turned to glam metal pick this up, you won’t be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars MUCH better than I expected!!!,
Prior to hearing this album, I had only been exposed to Britny Fox through their ‘Best of’ album. I liked that one but was not pleased enough to pursue them further. I happened to find this and was BLOWN AWAY at how good it was. There wasn’t a bad song on the disc! It is full of crunchy melodic hair metal rockers that are more energized than your standard hair metal songs and have plenty of attitude to boot! I was nodding my head and bouncing along to almost every song it seemed. It is obvious to me that this release is grossly underrated. I find it better than their greatest hits album too! I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars New energy for the Fox,
Britny Fox’s Bite Down Hard was the bands thrid full-length album in three years. Now, most of us 80’s hard rock fans know, 1991 was not the most conducive year for a hair metal band to release an album. Britny Fox proved the critics wrong, and released an amazing album that never receives enough credit.
Bite Down Hard was the first album Britny Fox released after in-fighting had caused the departure of vocalist “”Dizzy”” Dean Davidson. After the messy break-up, Davidson formed a new band called Black Eyed Susan, which saw Davidson drop his trademark gravel, and infuse a more straight ahead rock vocal. Rather surprising, at the same time, Britny Fox recruited a new front-man in Tommy Paris who sounds quite similar to Davidson with Black Eyed Susan. The result, was a much needed infusion of energy into the band, and creatively Britny Fox released their strongest album to date. Songs Like Six Guns Loaded, Louder, Lonely Too Long and Liar make the album strong, and even the ballads sound energetic and inspired.
This record should have made Britny Fox megastars, however, the story is very different. By 91, nobody cared much about hair metal anymore, and sadly these guys were left by the side of the road. If you don’t have this album, go get it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten gem,
This may be one of the best hard rock releases of the early 90’s, and one of the least known. It’s too bad, because this is a really good album with classic hooks and top notch guitar playing. Britny Fox has the reputation of being a super cheesy glam band, but this album with new lead singer Tommy Paris is straight ahead rock without the glammier stylings of the debut album. I’m glad i stumbled onto it and i highly recommend it for any fans of the hard rock genre. You won’t be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Glam-Rock’n Hair..One of my Favorites!
Only discovered Britny Fox recently. This is Jammin’ hair metal rock with high clear sexy vocals & harmonies. Great heavier guitar playing pays homage to the songs themselves. Song’s cohesive compositions are anything but boring & stick in the mind.. At least 8 great songs -all should have been hits! I think this is Britny Fox’s finest.
