5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive debut,
Originally released in 1995, Live and Learn was the debut album from Brazen Abbot, the melodic rock group formed by ex-Baltimoore guitarist Nikolo Kotzev. Kotzev was always more than just a superb guitarist, as his songwriting and keyboard playing in Brazen Abbot clearly proves. On this initial offering, Kotzev was joined by a pair of Europe members (Ian Haughland and Mic Michaeli) and on vocals Thomas Vikstrom (ex-Candlemass), Goran Edman (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) and none other than Deep Purple singer Glenn Hughes.

Kotzev has come pretty close to perfecting the melodic rock album with Brazen Abbot. Hes taken the classic Rainbow sound and incorporated elements of other classic bands (think Deep Purple and Journey) as well as more theatrical arrangements. The melodies are impeccable and the musicianship is just as impressive as the star-studded vocal performances. There really isn’t a weak moment on Live and Learn, and as impressive as it is, its probably the least stellar of all the Brazen Abbot albums!

Live and Learn is an incredibly impressive melodic rock album, and the albums that followed were even better. If you’re a fan of 80s style melodic rock, you really must check out Brazen Abbot, and Live and Learn is the perfect place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good,
I really like this band and this album in particular. Outstanding guitars, keyboards, and vocals. The album is full of high energy, spirited songs. I especially like “No Way Out of Nowhere”, “Russian Roulette”, and “Miracle”.
