Straight From the Heart Lyrics:  Don’t mean to buzz and fight, but I do. I may not seen the best in you. Look at me! At least I give it a try. I stand up here, and I look you in the eye. It just don’t matter – what you really think of me. It’s not what you say; it’s what you do. It just don’t matter, what you really see in me. If you take it all away; I just got this to say: The best of me comes from my heart. Straight from the heart! You can see it in my eye. Straight from the heart. The look you can’t deny. Straight from the heart. She really don’t understand. Straight from the heart. Ooh, ooh. Keep me down; I’ll just get up again. No matter what you do; I’m standing in the end! Look at me! Like a razor, cutting an edge. I don’t hear what you think, or anything you said. It just don’t matter what you really think of me. It’s not what you say; it’s what you do. It just don’t matter what you really see in me. You take it all away. I just got this to say: the best of me comes from my heart. Straight from the heart! Just a feeling I can’t hide. Straight from the heart! It really makes me come alive. Straight from the heart! Son, you don’t really understand. Straight from the heart! Ooh. Straight from the heart. Winch it all away. I seen you standing…with my heart…with my heart. Ooh! Straight from the heart! You can see it in my eye. Straight from the heart! The look you can’t deny. Straight from the heart! You still don’t understand. Straight from the heart! My heart’s my right hand man! Wooh…

Promises Lyrics:

Rough kid!
New York City
Don’t care about much
Ain’t it a pity
He met this girl
On the far side of town

Young girl
Grown up in a hurry
She tells her momma
Please don’t worry
I met this boy
On the far side of town

He’s got this girl
In his arms
And then she says
Hold on
Hold on

They’re not too sure
But it feels all right
Hold on
Hold on

They just don’t care
If it lasts forever
Hold on
Hold on

Got no use for
Promises
Heat’s too young for
Tears
What’s the use in
Promises
Broken through the years

Sliding down
Back seat of a Chevy
Skirt’s so tight
Ooooh, lookin’ pretty
Hearts pounding a back beat
They were too young
And in love

He’s got this girl
In his arms
And then she says
Hold on
Hold on

They’re not too sure
But it feels all right
Hold on
Hold on

They just don’t care
If it lasts forever
Hold on
Hold on

Got no use for
Promises
Heat’s too young for
Tears
What’s the use in
Promises
Broken through the years

Got no use for
Promises
Heat’s too young for
Tears
Tell me, what’s the use in
Promises
Broken through the years

Tell me, what’s the use in
Promises
Broken through the years

Tell me, what’s the use in
Promises?
Promises?
Promises?

The self-titled debut by WHITE SISTER is without a doubt a mandatory item in your AOR collection, and this LP is the definitive version.

The flamboyant Pomp rock movement of the late Seventies influenced a number of acts who took up that particular musical mantle during the following decade.
Groups such as Giuffria, Shooting Star and Spys were undoubtedly the frontrunner’s but following close behind and, arguably the greatest of them all, were Los Angeles based four-piece unit White Sister.
Their self-titled debut is, simply put, one of the finest Pomp AOR albums of all time.

A chance meeting in a gas station with former Angel keyboard maestro Gregg Giuffria paid handsome dividends when Gregg, smitten by the band’s music, agreed to produce their debut album which was released in 1984.
WHITE SISTER - ST [Rock Candy Remaster] inside coverExploding with all the melodic goodness that you would expect from a fine Pomp AOR record, the emphasis was on great songs and even greater musicianship, allowing the tracks to cruise along on a rough hewn carpet of muscle and melody.

You have terrific, lush keyboard / synth lines and vocals by Garri Brandon which simply swept you off your feet whilst the set to stun guitars of Rick Chadock drilled the infectious tunes into your brain and behind it all the skin tight rhythm section of Dennis Churchill (who also doubled up on lead vocals) and Richard Wright.
Gems such as “Promises”, “Walk Away”, “Can’t Say No” and “Don’t Say You’re Mine” are some of the very best in this genre.
The awesome “Whips” is an unreleased Angel track gifted to the band by Giuffria, and it’s another highlight. To be honest, all are…
“White Sister” is a true masterclass in AOR, make sure you get your lesson soon.

Existing comments about this LP:

Sublime melodic rock, where Journey meets Angel.

Possibly the finest AOR album ever made. Promises is a masterpiece.

THE ULTIMATE AOR RECORD!!!! This is the ‘Thriller’ or ‘Like a Virgin’ of 80 AOR, totally heavy and yet still very melodic. This is the soundtrack to the lives of every long haired, leather jacket wearing bad boy teenage rebel in the 80. And yes, ‘promises’ is truly an 80 teen anthem with a great story…

I totally agree with the above mentioned comments. This is definitely one of the best melodic rock records ever. Just listen to tracks like Can’t say no or Breakin all the rules and you know what I mean. Too bad that this band never made it big cause they really deserved it. What a killer record!!!!!!

Tracks 3,4,5,6 and 7 are all total killer heavy melodic rock. Great album

Classic AOR album that is a must for all fans of this style of music.

Two great singers!

Underrated band. Great, melodic songs. 3 of the guys from this band formed Tattoo Rodeo, which sounded nothing like White Sister. Both bands are great though.

The best melodic metal in the whole world. This album is a true masterpiece. Go out and find it.

This is a great album.. ‘Don’t say that you’re mine’ is their best song!!!

One of the greatest melodic rock albums of the 80s. Every song on it is excellent!

easily one of the best AOR albums ever made! Pure class!

Intense, passionate & enhanced by glorious bursts of melody, with flowing keyboards & soaring vocal crescendos White Sister debut album is a classic of it genre, Tracks 3,6 & 7 are three of the best AOR songs I’ve ever heard, Great production job too

does anyone know that Blackie Lawless of w.a.s.p. was the first singer for white sister

Actually Y&T- Down For The Count album sounds very much like these guys

Exactly – Y&T – to a ‘t’. I swear I’m listening to David Meniketti. Great Stuff! I like ‘Cant Say No’

Journey meets Angel. Gregg Guiffria has given this album a fairly tight and compressed mix, especially the rhythm section, which gives the guitars and keyboards ample space to breathe. The vocals are shared between Churchill-Dries and Brandon, and both are great on the respective songs they sing, but I think Churchill-Dries probably sings wi

Melodic rock classic-Dennis Churchills voice is sublime and the Keys and Guitars are awesome.

White Sister, is possibly, THE best band to have come around in the past 40 yrs. hehehehe I mean the music is just beautifully done. Classic 80 slasher film soundtrack music, THE best music there is. Dennis Churchill voice is AWESOME, as is everybody, when they harmonize, their voices blend perfectly.

One of the best aor albums song wise, the guitar sound is great on this album. It gives these songs a pretty raw feeling. 10/10″
